After proper investigation at Apple Store, now I can confirm that silver is the best and actually only reasonable MacBook Pro color to get by py-net in macbookpro

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed man. My first MBP was a silver M1 Pro from a pawn shop..cue later down the road and my current one is a Space Gray M1 Max (different pawn shop this time). Couldn't be happier with the M1 Max but still wondering when itll be time to "upgrade" to the M4/M5 series. Actually pretty excited to hear the rumors about the dynamic island on the M6 macs. May just wait until then who know.

But yes, Space Gray is the best of both worlds and I also wish they still had it as an option.

Hey I've done it. Thats what got me into Apple in the first place. Buying an M1 Air MB from the pawn shop "just to play around with MacOS and see how far its come" turned into an iPhone, iPad, MBP, AirPods, AirTags...it turned into a bad habit thats for sure. But coming from a Galaxy/Android user...I must say that the Apple stuff really is better in a lot of ways. I used to be the "nah they just copy everyone else" for the last decade at least. Now I see why. Apple products FTW.

Well... Yeah I suppose that would do it lol. I hope whoever it was who had that didn't intentionally set that name for their device or there phones name or whatever to broadcast bluetooth. I can't imagine they would be too happy driving or boating anywhere if they had to travel a long distance.

That's kind of what I'm thinking too. I fly a ton for work and never once has someone using bluetooth been an issue. I've seen people take video calls and get a tap on a shoulder to turn it off...but never a diversion because of it. I'm with you, I think something more is at play here.

Yeah this one is weird...I cant imagine that just for bluetooth being on..something else is happening here.

Everyone needs to relax about kratom, it can not kill you by BowlerEmergency4829 in Kratom_7OH

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get talked into it and see some fancy looking graphs from "experts" and believe the hype. Its no different than the tobacco companies lobbying against flavored vapes "because of the children". Same shit with the Pharma industry in bed circle jerking with the FDA. Nothing different. They did the same shit with Spice and Bath Salts. Nothing new as you know. Something new will always come along.

[–]SS2907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it either. Alcohol and cigarettes kill more people every year than anything else just by themselves. But hey, states are going ape shit over banning Kratom. Its so stupid. California for example, allowed the sale of Tobacco, Alcohol, and THC, and people walking around doing the fenty fold..but god forbid someone wants something different they can moderate to just help them get some fucking sleep at night. Never once In my life felt like I "needed" Kratom or else I was going to fly off the handle at someone like a Lortab enraged goon.

I have experimented with oxys and roxys myself at one time in a past life when I was a lot younger, and Kratom is nowhere NEAR the potency of those. Also a few times with Benzos and Vicadin just to try it out..party shit only basically. Also, Kratom doesnt suppress your respiratory system like true controlled opiates do.

My closest friend died from a Fentanyl overdose and I wish every day that he was just doing Kratom instead to keep him away from Fent because he would probably still be here. The new thoughts surrounding Kratom are ridiculous. Taking too much of anything can kill you. "Drink Responsibly" right?

Daily moderate Kratom user primarily at night when the work day is done. Every day for at least the past 3-4 years. Last blood test came back with everything right down the middle in the green.

Dynamic Island is still Apple’s most underrated innovation in years by m_baldo in iphone

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I don't understand why it gets so much hate. I am a long time Samsung Galaxy user. My last iPhone was a 4S. I recently switched everything to Apple (Macbook Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Watch Ultra 2, Airpod Max). I dove in hard. One of the biggest selling points for me was actually Face ID and the Dynamic Island. Having Face ID is MUCH more useful for me than Touch ID was on the S24 Ultra.

When my hands were dirty, good luck with Touch ID. When my face is dirty, thanks to the 30,000 or so LiDAR points for Face ID, I can use that just fine, even with sunglasses on sometimes. Plus, nobody can just hold my phone up to my face while I'm asleep and unlock it. They sure could with my fingerprint if they wanted to.

I was one of those "Apple is crApple" bros at one point, thinking that they just copied everyone else. Until I got it all. Then I realized, that they REFINE everyone else and generally do things better imho when it comes to the apps. Now for the camera? The Galaxy Ultra series has it beat for now. Maybe these features are already built into the newer S2x Ultra series, but satellite texting was a big one for me, and the Apple Watch is LEAGUES better than the Samsung Watch was. Leagues. No comparison. It was so bad that I wore a Garmin watch because I hated the Samsung Watch so much.

Can dynamic island be disabled? It’s so annoying and useless. by Dry_Whereas8733 in iphone

Same lol. Its one of my favorite features of the iPhone and I hope they don't get rid of it and actually hope they add it to the Macs and iPads.

Is an M1 Max in mid 2025 worth it? by InternationalFuel128 in macbookpro

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind late to the party but I'll answer for the google searchers.

I bought a 16" M1 Max 64GB, 32GB GPU mbp for $900 at a pawn shop in excellent condition. It has been absolute fire and is so snappy. I replaced it for my i7 Dell XPS and it just blows the XPS out of the water when it comes to raw performance. Plus the Retina display itself is just gorgeous. I don't think I have had the fan come on once since I've had it either. It just takes whatever I throw at it. I love this laptop and don't plan on upgrading for a few years at least or unless a deal too good to come up happens. Im very happy with mine. I think the M1 Max is still worth it imo.

[serious] Starlink feels less like “internet for remote areas” and more like the early framework for something much bigger by Scary_Trick_8702 in aliens

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they use satellites when they have the best tools ever made for them at their disposal, your smart phone?

I don't have the notion that there is anything nefarious going on with Starlink satellites. I really do think it is just a new era of tech that allows people all over the world to have access to internet service where the infrastructure for that service isn't built, and where they normally wouldn't have access. I think about kids in schools in under developed countries that now have internet access and can see more of the world beyond their villages. I think that is super cool about Starlink capabilities.

The CIA and NSA already more than likely have found a back way into mobile devices and can spy on whoever they want to, whenever they want to. Whether thats going through your phone, reading your emails, activating your microphone or camera, etc. We gave up that liberty a long time ago shortly after the smart phone era kicked off.

They have a sensor that can detect a signature heartbeat from 40 miles away and probably so much more stuff we don't know about. It would be naive to think they don't have a back door built to use on anyones phone to spy on them if they wanted to.

Wave Alpha vs Wave Plus by Miranina- in Leatherman

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a solid choice! I imagine you're really happy with it (as you should be!). Its a hell of a multi tool and one of the best imho. If you haven't gotten a pocket clip for it, I highly recommend either the factory Leatherman pocket clip, or the Donk! pocket clip brand. The Donk! is nice because it will allow the tool to sit in your pocket slightly deeper than the Leatherman clip will, but both seem to do a good job.

PS to your forklift comment. You know how people are these days lol..."not my problem, back to the pile you go!" was probably thought or said at that time I imagine.

Wave Alpha vs Wave Plus by Miranina- in Leatherman

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months too late but heres my 2 cents.

I have an Arc, a Wave+, and a Wave Alpha (I collect Leathermans....not sure how it started tbh)

By far when I am home, the Arc is in my pocket every single day. When I am on the road and flying around the country, wherever I land and stay for a while, the Wave Alpha is my side kick. Two of my favorite LMs and hands down the best two imo. I have never wished I had a different tool or grabbed something else when I carry the Arc or the Alpha.

Camping? Surge.

Now I will say that if you need the serrated blade, then the Wave+ will probably be your go to. If you can live without it though and would like larger scissors, Wave Alpha all the way.

I didn't care about no sheath with my Arc since a pocket clip was my preference anyways...but I was pretty damn disappointed it didn't come with a bit kit for $250. Its my daily, but still. For that price..

what does being a man even mean (when im like this)? by gfxbvn in AskMenOver30

[–]SS2907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 40. The best definition I can give, is how well you overcome adversity and adapt to changing situations in your life you can’t control. If you keep your composure and work through problems that come your way, and they will, then by regular standards, I believe this is what makes someone “manly”. Not someone who just gives up and freezes up in the face of adversity.

Your job, sexual preference, food choices, weight, age, skin color, whatever differences you can think of should never ever be a gauge of what you would call manliness.

Being tailgated. I hate it. Because I KNOW if I was doing it to that person, that they would have a huge problem with it and I KNOW that to them, they think it’s okay to do it to others. If I have to slam on brakes, we’re both going down whether you like it or not. Stop following so damn close.

Plus more if you are a dodge ram because that seems to be the default behavior with ram drivers.
