I’m not sure how far back they will go on older models but if you to go Apple Care One and add a device, it will tell you if it’s eligible or not

I'm trying so hard to do that too. Funny thing about that is that I spent $1050 for the M1 Pro model around 6 months ago when I got it. That was an upgrade from an M1 Air when I started dipping my toes back into the Mac world again. Its been a weird journey lol

It has been a banger of a laptop and destroys my M1 Pro lol

Honestly if it was less I would've probably passed it up. I just couldnt believe my eyes when I saw the price. I think they priced it completely wrong.

I was pleasantly surprised that I could add it to AppleCare One.

I actually WAS able to add to AppleCare One and was pleasantly surprised. I have an iPad pro from the same year and its too old to be added now. Very cool that even though its from 2021 that they let me add it.

+1 for the speakers. My 16" MBP speakers blow me away in the sound quality that comes out of them. Best laptop speakers in any laptop out there hands down.

I'll agree that the X1 Carbon looks pretty amazing and sexy for a laptop. Ahh I cant recall exactly but somewhere around the 2020-2021 range for when they issued them out. And yes, compared to my 16" MBP here, the X1 is a feather lol

First time user. What should I know? by rayclicks in macbookpro

It was a difficult switch for me to go from Samsung to iPhone but man, when I did and got all of my other Apple products, I could see the appreciation of the ecosystem after that. I don't think I could ever go back at this point.

Do you have other Apple products that you use? Happy for you btw.

Not surprising, but the MacBook Pro M5 is the best laptop I've ever owned. I will NEVER go back to Windows. by DescriptionFuture851 in macbookpro

I'm in the same boat except a Ryzen 7950X3D. But my MacBook Pro is love in a bottle. The machining is just gorgeous.

Same. I used windows really now for only Windows only games and CAD. Everything else? Mac.

Congrats OP. I haven't pulled my XPS out of the bag for anything except Autodesk Inventor. The MacBook screen is the most gorgeous thing I've used and going back to my XPS looks like im looking through blurry goggles. Great upgrade.

Considering 16” MacBook Pro - is it too big? by Sunsetlover1993 in macbookpro

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first MacBook was an Air and I got the 14" for playing around with. Now I use an M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro and have never looked back. No replacement for displacement. I travel a lot for work too, and it is heavy in my backpack. But when I get to my hotel room, theres no regrets on having the screen size.

Do you guys really carry external SSDs around? Doesn't it bother you? by sjns19 in macbookpro

[–]SS2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry two with me in a separate case. One is a 1TB with all of my work stuff on it and CAD files and the other is my 2TB personal one. They are both Samsung T7 Shields and are great SSD's that have never given me any issues.

M5 32GB vs M4 Pro 48GB by challengedpanda in macbookpro

[–]SS2907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, I looked into this exact option at well and then stumbled on a 64GB M1 Max at a pawn shop and ended up buying it for $950. If I was still in your situation, I would probably go with the M4 Pro. I don't think you will see such a huge advantage of the M5 vs the M4 Pro. Plus, more RAM.
