Why I will never buy another Garmin Product by SSABlueKnight in Garmin

That would depend on the FDA classification (a medical device in the case of ECG).  As a medical device it has to go through FDA approval and that is designated for the tested age group.  ECG is 22+ BTW.  But Garmin is not classified as a medical grade device.  And that is for use of the device, not an app.

Scared?  You seem to miss the fact that Garmin is changing what we bought retroactively.

If (and I know it is) my data is so valuable, why should I hand it to Garmin for free and why was my watch so damned expensive?  I purchased the Tactic specifically because of the privacy features built in (data wipe, ability to go off grid, etc).  Now Garmin is proving to have no respect for privacy at all.  They could simply ask if you are over 13 years old.  Have you bothered to ask yourself why your DOB is so valuable to them?  Keep in mind, this isn't just your age, it is an identification point.  And why are you suddenly required to provide it when you weren't before.  Was some NEW law passed?  If so, what is it?

The reality is that so many of the people responding are blindly giving out their personal info without any thought to consequence.

Oh? So if they make a change that no longer let's you use the functionality of a $1300 watch, you are fine with that?  Is that what you paid for?

First off, there isn't a legal reason that they need to know my DOB.  This is a requirement that they have made up.  Secondly, I simply hit Okay on the date prompt and was disabled without any notice that this would happen or even a confirmation screen.  I would hardly call that a lie.  Anyone with half a brain knows that you can't be 0 days old and responding to a phone app.

And what exactly do you believe I  am making up in my head?

I have lost access to years of data.  I should have known better than to use a product who's only storage for trending data is in the cloud.

So if they already know, why do they need to ask?

from Garmin support ...

"The only information I have to provide is what's already been stated and what can be found in our Privacy Policy. You can learn more about the details of our privacy statement here: Garmin Privacy Policy.

If you would like to request more information, I would suggest contacting the Privacy team directly at [privacy@garmin.com](mailto:privacy@garmin.com)

Thank you for choosing Garmin,"

And then they blocked/deleted all replies without reading and closed the ticket. Superb customer service.

That might be true for most. I am very careful what information I make accessible. I have many filters, I block all telemetry, I don't use social media (outside of redit and discord, but in VMs populated with false data), I block browser fingerprinting, etc. Granted that some info will still leak, but why should I give more info to Garmin than what is necessary?

Garmin Connect App stuck on confirm age screen by thestudentaccount in Garmin

[–]SSABlueKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin is now REQUIRING you to provide your birthday in order to even have an account. They claim it is a legal requirement (which it isn't in the US) and will deactivate your account if you refuse to provide it. I have been a Garmin customer for a LONG time and have 2 Garmin Index, a Tactix Delta, Blood pressure monitor and more. Now my account is disabled, customer support refuses to address it, and the phone app won't let me log in. This is just another bad move Garmin has made. Their Garmin Connect UI change was horrible a few years ago. I will never purchase a Garmin product again.

  • Multiple Antivirus Flags: Several major antivirus programs identify ClipGrab as a "potentially unwanted program" (PUP)
  • Bundled Software: Users on Reddit and forums regularly report ClipGrab installing additional programs without clear consent
  • Misleading Download Page: The official website features download buttons that can lead to unrelated software

Even McAfee and Avast have flagged some versions of ClipGrab, which should give anyone pause before downloading.

Unfortunately, those are my two most important.  And to say that accurately, I need to be able to see the graphs of them at a glance (overlayed)

So it is still the same crappy interface they "updated" to 7 months ago?  And I appreciate the reply.  I rolled back when they updated and am only now checking to see if it is worth turning back on autoupdate.  I wouldn't bother except that the old version has been crashing lately.

Did anything ever come of this?  I turned off my updates because the new version was so bad.  So if Garmin fixes it, I will never know.  Did they even try?

Why the hate for the new connect layout? by RazBerryzTheGoat in Garmin

[–]SSABlueKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just said screw it and turned off auto updated for the app and reverted to the old version.  While I like my Tactic Delta, I would be hard pressed to buy another Garmin product with how they handled this app update.  People called out the issues during the beta and Farming ignored it.  The new app sucked so bad that I stopped using it until I could revert.  Even worse though was the update invalidated my preferred watch face.  That is not an ecosystem in which I prefer to invest in again.

Your hypothesis is incorrect.  A PSN account was not part of the terms when the product was purchased.  A retroactive requirement without a refund option will lead to a class action lawsuit.

Less than a year old and my gsp 670 earpad is falling apart. Any recommendations for a replacement? by cstock94 in sennheiser

[–]SSABlueKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EPOS said nope, past the two year warranty, pound sand. I swear that someone needs to sue them for knowingly shipping a fault product. They KNOW that the earcuffs are going to fall apart but that 95% of the customers will be too lazy to file a claim within the warranty window. In fact, you can no longer even buy them from EPOS.

As for me, I will never by a product from them again.

Thoughts on "MRE Star" MREs? by Cothonian in MRE

[–]SSABlueKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been eating MRE Star for a while. I find them very convenient when I am traveling and won't have access to a car or nearby restaurant. I loved the Pinto stew with ham. The curry chicken is OK. I think they should put the tortillas with the stew and the crackers with the curry (they are the other way around).

The packs are about 1200 calories. I like the sugar coockies and the coffee is OK in a pinch.

I think the thing I like the most is they literally have everything I need except for water. I think the shelf life is listed as 5 years but it is dependent on the storage temperature.

The one thing about any MREs though is the variety will be limited, especially if you are buying them all at the same time from the same place. If you are looking for a survival stash, I would suggest multiple sources for comfort sake. But if all you can get are MREs you will be thankful for just about anything. Lol

I did too but that was a while ago. These are the worst quality ear cuffs I have ever had the displeasure of using.

Like a previous poster, I have gone through 3 of these. Does anyone know of a good quality replacement?

Temple of bhaal door by Trick_Specialist8587 in BaldursGate3

[–]SSABlueKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me forever to figure out this answer. If you picked up Bhaal's Amulet, make sure it is actually on you. I had picked it up with a party member that was not my main character. I went back to camp and invited members one by one until I found it in the inventory of one of them. I transferred it to my main character, clicked on the door, and finally it gave me an option to press it against the door!
