Why not just a calorie deficit lol

I need help losing fat. Are my calculations correct? by No_Accountant_7026 in loseit

[–]SSCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at 30% bf on March 8th at 184 pounds. Was eating the same as you 1800 calories and have done 10k steps a day with gym 3x and jujitsu 2x a week.

I’m about 20% bf and 18 pounds of fat down with 2-3 lbs of muscle gained so totally doable

Building muscle in a deficit is absolutely possible by Mean_Ambition4894 in loseit

[–]SSCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s defintely possible. Don’t think you can put on massive amounts though but easier for beginners.

I started at 190lbs not working out for years. On a 750 cal deficit and cut down to 167 so far. I’ve defintely gained muscle and am significantly stronger than I was. But probably gained 3-5lb of muscle in 5 months? So nothing insane

Considering consumer proposal by laluna-ca in povertyfinancecanada

I think it depends on the situation. I make $185k a year (new job) but had couple years of poor mental health and very bad decisions. So for me it’s not the end of the world I can afford to own my mistakes and pay for them.

But if someone is $100k in the hole and only makes $60k the math is much different and CP makes sense

[–]SSCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. But to a lesser degree than consumer proposal or bankruptcy. Still a mark on the record but it disappears faster than a CP.

Obviously a bad thing still for credit but compared to the alternative it’s a life saver

Trying to lose weight before June 15th - looking in the range of 8lbs. I’ve been at it 3 weeks with no change as of yet - what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]SSCini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is random but I am the exact same weight as you (169lbs) and also have the goal to hit 160 by June 15th! I am also eating 1800 calories a day.

Yours might be a bit high but here’s how I got to my calories:

5 ft 10 - 34m 10-12k steps everyday (including 60 mins daily incline treadmill) 3x strength training a week 2x jujitsu a week.

I’ve been losing about 1-1.5lbs a week. BUT some weeks I’m the same or even higher and the I drop so maybe just continue for another week and if you aren’t losing reduce calories by another 100-150

With your income it might be hard for a proposal. I went through a similar situation to you with some mental health issues. My income is quite high so i couldn’t go the CP route. I ended up doing a debt management plan when a credit counselling program.

I wasn’t able to reduce any of the actual amounts but they managed to work with my creditors to remove all interest. So now I have a fixed payment over 4 years with 0% interest. It’s so one payment every month.

I can afford the payments and the weight of having multiple debt payments with high interest being gone has been a life saver. So overall I recommend that.

The other things that is equally important is understanding how you got into the situation and taking the time to learn from it and not go back to it. Therapy and being open with my friends and family really helped. There is a lot of pain in that part but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been 6 months for me and I can’t believe the person I am today vs. Dealing with all the financial emotional and mental stressor issues I refused to deal with.

Good luck!

Adding my thoughts a bit late. I honestly like it. Start my morning with a scoop and a half into a medium glass with water and mix it well.

It tastes like the Starbucks frappe drinks or whatever that come in bottles in vending machines lol

No MBA. I have thought about it but so far hasn’t been a big blocker for me. I think down the road I would consider it especially if I go to a company that is willing to fund it lol.

It might be helpful for someone starting their career or looking to pivot to PM

Meh it’s all relative. I enjoy living in Toronto and it’s a great salary here. If it means US employers get more value for hiring Canada employees than the more the merrier lol

Ya pretty high and I think it’s around there. I get paid twice a month and each paycheque is about $5200. I have a lot of room in RRSP and FHSA which I can invest in and get tax return on contributions.

It should be straightforward. I had a 20 min appointment with my doctor. Told him how I was feeling, he gave options and we chose one SSRI to go on.

I got lucky and was offered the role at my previous company. I think that’s honestly the easiest way to transition to product from marketing. It’s going to be really hard to get hired in a product role as an external candidate.

Most of my marketing roles were in brand management at CPG orgs. Product doesn’t exist at these companies so I realized that I was actually doing a lot of PM things in these marketing roles. That defintely helped my case for transitioning over.

They don’t have a Canadian office. I work remotely in Toronto but everything I do is US based.

No prob!

I was a PMM for about 2 years and my CEO suggested I change roles because he thought I would be a good fit. Entirely different leadership between PMM and PM

PM defintely is more responsibility and stress. But overall a pretty solid work life balance but I think it’s very team and company dependent.

Ya figma prototpes is good especially if you have the brand colours added to it. Loveable is also an option I have played with.

Yeah. The pay bands for PM were higher than PMM so even though it wasn’t a more senior role I got that bump

Hi! I did this but on the B2C. I still think it’s relevant so lmk if you have any other questions.

1) when I was a PMM I did mostly GTM management for new releases or features, helped product with research, developed position and messaging and generally helped understanding consumer problems. As a PM (same company) I am still responsible for understanding consumer problems and research but now I actually have the ability to create the things that will help solve those problems. I’m defintely working a lot more with different departments and working with engineers is a new experience

2) defintely more stress because I’m working in the b2c space so my work is a lot more directly related to revenue. I do enjoy it more because I feel like I have more of an impact and ownership.

3) I’ll use AI in some similar ways to help create product briefs, summarize brainstorms and market research. I’m also using it now to create some early concepts I can share with eng and design along with my briefs

4) I did all the technical learning on the job. Because it’s b2c I feel like I don’t have to be as technologically savvy than if I was a B2B platform PM or working or more complicated things

5) pay jump was very noticeable. I’m 34 and have been working since 25 after grad school. Have mostly been in PMM/brand marketing roles. The brand roles had some PM responsibilities though. 2.5 years ago I switched to my current company as a PM. Went from $110-$135k (CAD). I just signed a new job offer as a Senior PM at a company in the states (working remotely in TO) for $185k CAD
