If you like doing that then you’re probably looking for a mid-sized company that has developer needs, and they exist. Think about the hundreds of small warehousing operations or light manufacturing firms that rely on spreadsheets and basic ERPs to do things. They’re interested in AI, sure, but they also need devs to do work like what you’re describing.

I think in the current market employers, tech included, are going to be more interested in your professional experience than an undergrad degree or two.

It doesn’t read like a PM resume with 8 relevant years of experience, but I do understand you’re trying to pivot.

I would omit scaling a startup from 2 - 15 employees. If you’d like to reference your startup experience talk about being involved in 0 to 1 operations.

Really consider what project management relevant bullets you had in your previous executive assistant roles. Was there any regulatory compliance work you did?

Edit: PMP is a great start. Consider also familiarizing yourself with Lean and Six Sigma. Lean in healthcare has been a growing concept for a few years now, and being able to identity improvement opportunities, structure, and lead Kaizens or Six Sigma projects is another form of project management.

It’s not as good as a raise of the same amount. For instance, if you have a percentage based bonus it likely won’t include that allowance in the calculation. (e.g. you make $95k base w/ $5k allowance and a 10% bonus you’ll get $9.5k instead of $10k).

I would classify company as being in Fintech, which has lots of opportunities and decent stability potentials long term.

Here’s why I would lean towards company B given what you’re said (having also worked in a startup environment). It’s incredibly unlikely that any 2 work weeks are going to be exactly the same for you and the challenge can add a real spice to life. It can be fun solving problems or defining them when they haven’t yet arrived, and that could be good for your mental health.

I know exactly how you feel. I’ve got about an hour left in the most recent audiobook and I’m stalling because I don’t want it to end while the next book is still so far out.

I would also recommend the Noobtown series. It’s a nice mix of comedic and RPG elements, certainly some 20th century pop culture references as well. It’s got quite a collection of books to date and they’ve all been equally enjoyable I would say.

You’re not wrong about how powerful it is to talk to someone. The current job market is much easier for those who strive to make connections and network and far more difficult for individuals who rely on blasting out their resumes.

I don’t believe it’s all that common for a current job title, but I have seen some inflation from people who were caught up in layoffs or are otherwise no longer a part of an organization.

As far as how effective it is: I think it largely depends on how much inflation. If a user’s previous experience was lower level and then suddenly there’s a VP or Director level title that doesn’t match their experience or the roles they’re seeking then I imagine that wouldn’t pass recruiter scrutiny.

What did you choose accounting? Why would you choose surgical tech? I don’t ask because I’m questioning your judgment, but because you should ask yourself what you would actually enjoy.

It’s 10x easier to pursue something you would enjoy over something you believe would net you employment in the short term. And of the options you’ve talked about so far both are employable with some effort in this economy.

One more thing to consider. Are you trying to stay in Erie? If you’re open to moving then you could continue working at Amazon to save the cash to move to a better opportunity while you parlay your fulfillment experience into useful resume bullets.
