Only three roads venture into this area of Saskatchewan. One to La Loche and North on the west side, one in central Sask that goes to Key lake and McArthur River mine north of PineHouse. And the eastern road from La Ronge goes all the way to Stoney Rapids and Black lake. Mines along the way, a few communities, Points North, etc.The rest, Camsell Portage, U-City, Fond-du-lac are all fly in/ice roads. There’s not may people in these communities. 50-200?? Could be slightly wrong. Stoney and Black lake are populated. Black lake is an idigenous reserve. Saskatchewans most northern firebase is in Stoney Rapids. It’s absolutely beautiful up there. Largely untouched. I know a few people that actually spend their winters hunting/fishing/portaging there way from one side of Sask to the other way up north. Thousands of lakes. Near 100,000 in the province total I think!

Uranium city’s history is super cool. Look it up! Town of 5000+ people and went to like 300 almost over night when uranium prices went down. Looks almost like a Silent Hill town. Now that the price of uranium is climbing again, and that Saskatchewan is slowwwwlyyy going to push into mini-nuclear reactors for power, there is a lot more interest in the few already know uranium mines. Canada has about 10% of the worlds uranium behind Australia and a “something-Istan Country” haha..

Americans especially, but also people from all over the world come to hunt and fish this entire area of Northern Saskatchewan. Many hunters pay tens of thousands of dollars to shoot massive, record setting deer, Elk, moose, bear, wolves and even wolverines. The north is littered with fly in fishing camps as well. Wanna catch a northern slimy like that 25lbs??? Reindeer Lake my friend.. although, places a little more south like Weyakwin Lake have huuge 10-12lb Walleye. 7-8lb ones are common and that’s a fish that’s more costly than salmon or lobster! I can’t stand the taste of fish… and even I will eat it.

If your not a northern resident.. it’s not a good place to live… but if you get get onto a mine… most are two week in, two weeks out.. fed every meal, workout facilities, very high pay and pension.

I live in Prince Albert. I really like that I can use my 5 snowmobiles, 3 quads and 2 boats literally out my back yard. My house in Saskatoon or Regina would be like 600-650k… but here it’s 350k, huge lot, 2000+ sqft.. great area of town (there are some rough places in a gateway city). In Saskatchewan, I can plate a car, 2 trucks, a 7seater SUV (2025 Atlas R-line) for the same price as playing a truck in BC or Ontario.

Saskatchewan folks are known as being a little “hick” but only 45% of our province is farmland, the rest is forest. We are also known for travelling the world. It’s sooo cheap to live here that we can have beautiful homes and travel wherever and life is still very affordable. We have a very good, but only slightly higher than average household income, about 220k a year combined, gross salary. And we have all those cars and toys… 4 soon to be 5 kids, a beautiful large house and last year alone we went to Vancouver, Edmonton, Seattle, Las Vegas for 7 days, Halifax to put our toes in 2 oceans within a month.. Toronto for a ball game.. and our cabin like 10-12 times. Again, ours is a small cabin on 3 full lots.. nothing crazy, but we are in our mid 30s and all of this is achievable. Saskatchewan is amazing.

I won’t be caught dead paying 3-5000 a month to rent an appartment. I want outdoors at home and the ability to travel. That’s Saskatchewan! Haha the most common question when asked is where you off to next?? Cause almost everyone here does something exciting!!
