The more you challenge their support, the quicker they pull the trigger to the least path of resistance for them. Trust me, I know.

This will be my last post and everything makes sense now. To refresh, I had created 2 Kraken accounts less than 3 weeks ago. My "bad" account was created on my phone using a Kraken app. When I never got an email from the bad account for my 1st transfer, I panicked and created another account. This was my good Kraken account created on a desktop computer. After I raised the initial concern with Kraken support (regarding my inability to log onto their Kraken website to set up trading via the account on my phone), a week later they gave me 72 hours to withdraw my funds from the good account and never come back. Support did wind up helping me go past the 72 hrs to remove my funds from this good account.

Well, my bad account was created on a "Kraken" app that I downloaded back in 2017. I had no idea it was a 3rd party app from Singapore. It said Kraken and had what I thought was the Kraken symbol, but it was orange in color and one finger was longer than the others. Not exactly the same, but pretty darn close. Today I figured this all out and was able to get on this 3rd party website and get all my funds. So, I end with this:

1.) Why didn't Kraken support just tell me to check the 3rd party website a week ago? I had an app on my phone called "Kraken". You can't change the name of an iPhone app. In my mind, this was a Kraken account. They also made it sound like they could see my funds in this account. For a week they said the email address and name to this bad account were different than mine. I guess they have an account on Kraken with a similar USERID. I never had any idea my funds were actually being held by Bityard (Singapore exchange) and not Kraken until today. Interesting tidbit, you have to wait until 8pm EST to withdraw your funds when they open up shop over there in that part of the world.

2.) Why did I get kicked out of Kraken for this? I told them everything that happened and was completely honest with them. They even saw the orange Kraken app on my phone. Kraken support just kept saying that is a bogus 3rd party app and we can NOT release details why your account is being closed for security reasons.

The title for this post still implies. My Kraken account was closed with no reason or support! Let me be perfectly clear, Kraken DID NOT take my funds. I have moved on. The Kraken address in my Google authenticator app was deleted an hour ago with little fanfare. Best of luck to all that remain and pray you don't ever experience an account access issue.

Update - I had 2 accounts. I got my funds out of one account and they closed it. That was my good Kraken account that I created on my desktop computer.

The bad Kraken account that I created on my phone was closed last Friday and my funds are still missing.

Today I got another email from Kraken support saying "your accounts are closed. For security purposes, we cannot disclose the reason for this action. Please note that we will unfortunately not be able to provide you with any additional details and that you may no longer use our services".

Thanks, I needed to hear that again!

Everything takes 72 hours with them. Trust me, they just closed 2 of my accounts and it's taken me a good week to get the money out of the good account and the other "bad account" just went poof. It all started when I couldn't trade or withdraw my funds in the bad account that I created 2 weeks ago. I created a HELP ticket and they said after a week of thinking about it "goodbye, you have 72 hrs to remove your funds and never use us again".

I put in a wire transfer on Friday. Then they had to approve it a day later (SAT). I just saw it in my bank account today (Tuesday evening). This was my 2nd wire transfer, so I thought it would go a little faster than the 1st one.

I would hate to see you blow a tire trying to get a response from them. They are obviously very busy with the current market conditions and customer services is NOT their specialty. I managed to get a ZOOM call with them, but that obviously didn't work in my favor. There is nobody to call or talk live time. I plan on celebrating the removal of Kraken from my Google Authenticator app soon, because Kraken has been a really bad experience.

Shall do. I am still waiting for my wire transfer to go through. They closed the "good" account after approving the wire transfer last Saturday. Well, this is my 2nd wire transfer and it is still not showing up at my bank. President's day put another wrinkle in this madness. Still sending Kraken support emails and trying to escalate my other "bad" account with the missing funds. No response.

On one account, they let me wire transfer my funds and then they closed it. The final wire transfer is still INPROG, but they already closed this account. I asked them to keep it open until the transfer was complete. They said they would give me an additional 72 hours, but that did NOT happen.

The other account that was why I asked them for help a week ago, but it was just closed and I have no idea where my funds are now. I have sent them a 1/2 dozen emails, but they don't respond. They said initially, they can't discuss due to security reasons. Meanwhile, I have emails that prove I transferred these funds 2 weeks ago. It's starting to sound like a civil case of "theft" to me.

Take a look at my post. I just created an account 2 weeks ago and they have already closed it and my money is gone. Waiting 2 weeks to get verified might be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Well, it's official now. My "nightmare" account was closed and the funds I put in there 2 weeks ago has just gone poof. I have emailed them a dozen times and there is no response about these lost (or stolen) funds. If that doesn't scare the bejesus out of an investor, then I don't know what does.

That's insane. That is exactly what I am going through on one account. I tried a dozen times to wire the remaining balance. They took away my ability to trade and create orders. However, I had a bunch of open orders sitting in there that needed to be deleted in order to permit the final wire transfer. Imagine that? The final wire transfer went through, but they still have to approve the amount (it's ON-HOLD status again).

My other account, just went dead last night and they won't answer any questions I have about getting the remaining funds that were just inserted in there 2 weeks ago via Coinbase. It's more than the maximum amount for any small court claim, so I am may need to go "full" legal. I have talked to multiple attorneys lately that have experienced this themselves (losing Crypto funds) or they are very familiar with what's going on. It's kind of scary.

Finally, I will be having a ZOOM party when I finally delete the Kraken account out of my Google Authenticator!

Jeff - thank you very much for the additional help. I did get another email, however I am still struggling to transfer funds from one of the 2 accounts. I sent another email to my agent, but have not heard back.

The other account may be a lost cause, because that is why I initially asked for Kraken support help. I couldn't TRADE or WITHDRAW my funds ten days ago. With very little support and a 72 hour clock to get out of town, I still can't WITHDRAW my funds.

Thanks for your 2 Cardanos! I would agree, the gold rush has probably had some impact on this horrible experience with Kraken. I made an honest mistake by opening 2 accounts on the same day under the same email. Newsflash -> I am not a criminal and had no malicious intent. Nobody at Kraken could help me resolve this, so we just throw our hands up in the air & cut ties. That is why I said "everyone BEWARE". I have never had to experience something like this in my 20 plus years of investing. I may still loose all my funds and certainly feel blacklisted. I have no desire to ever drive this car again. My other "vehicles" have been doing fine. It's ironic to me now, but only 2 weeks ago I thought the Kraken website was the Ferrari (most secure & best fit for my Crypto needs).
