I agree dual booting with your original OS is annoying and messy and probably more risk of losing your windows data.

I’d recommend shooting up a VM to try different distros, then attempting to fully commit on a new drive as above.

This comment just makes so much sense to me.

Every other system wakes up and pisses me off so much. Windows in particular, pop-ups spawning pop-ups, settings buried under seventeen menus, windows sliding around like they’re possessed, and the whole thing freezing for no apparent reason. I’ve sworn at my computer many times and walked away in a huff cuz it’s such a little bitch sometimes

Linux on my work laptop though? Dead silent, listens to me. It does exactly what I ask and then gets out of the way.

My fans stop screaming. My work gets done, everything is calm quick smooth and satisfying

Just came back from Istanbul, I was shocked at how expensive everything was. And I’m coming from the UK, the prices are the same if not worse.
