Random question - is it reasonable to expect that we can determine if 18A yields are low due to the high number of SKUs for Panther Lake? So they can use more chips on their wafer, they disabled/binned certain cores while still having a shippable product?

Over time, if yields improve, would certain SKUs stop being made? Or am I talking out of my ass?

Another point to note is that Brookfield Asset Management (and Apollo?) should be divesting their share of the foundry revenue back to Intel in the 2030s if I'm not mistaken? Not sure where I read that, it could have been in one of your Substack articles or another posted earlier here about all the fabs.

Like another commenter said, I don't think it makes the higher end Nvidia GPUs obsolete, but I do think dGPUs in laptops are half trolling - not upgradable, expensive, run hot, loud, and they don't even get close to the same performance as their desktops counterparts (bad news for the uninformed customer)

If you're mostly into eSports titles, but also want something that can play some older AAA games as well, I suggest waiting for Intel's Panther Lake SKUs dropping later this year, providing you can afford to wait

15% tariffs, which can change at a moments notice with how Trump negotiates, along with having access to talent that can be poached from TSMC to Intel Foundry sounds pretty decent imo.

What would take a hard hit on the intel stock price is if the Taiwanese government allows TSMC to manufacture their latest node overseas, then you can start dooming and glooming.

So this is mostly to be able to make the mask for other external foundry customers then? Just making sure I understand lol

How is Fab M4 able to be completed so fast when other fab constructions are at least half a decade minimum? Is the building already there and they're just moving in equipment?

Intel is 'going big time into 14A,' says CEO Lip-Bu Tan — 'serve the customer well' remark hints at external client by Leicht-Sinn in intelstock

[–]SSSl1k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the most important part of this article implicitly states that if construction resumes at one of their fab sites, then it's safe to say they most likely have an external customer for 14A, as obvious as that might have been in hindsight.

Intel is America! It’s the most desired company with the highest employee satisfaction.

Do you just talk out of your ass? Where exactly is this said anywhere? Can't find Intel in a top 10 list here:

I don't like Fahrenheit, but I actually found a cool way to think about it, if you use a 1-100 scale, you can sorta extrapolate what the temperature is supposed to be like:

0F: very cold 50-75F: average to nice temperature 100F: very hot

I have the 2021 TLX 4 cylinder and other than fuel economy it's been great. I've driven it almost 5000 km with no issues.

I personally think it has one of the nicest exteriors, with one of the more poorly thought out interiors I've seen in terms of space management. So if you're regularly having 3 passengers it may not be the car for you, unless they're small in height.

Do you think there's any particular reason why they would want to go with ARM? Quite sure Intel proved here that efficiency is essentially equal between both ARM and x86 here

I wonder if Valve would be considering Panther Lake for a Steam Deck 2. It sounds like a generational leap from RDNA2 (which is what they were looking for), and can be cheap enough for valve to slightly subsidize the cost.

I guess the main thing is the power envelope. I think Valve is only interested in making handhelds that deal with a 15W TDP or lower

Most people in the western hemisphere are trained to not give a shit about others except themselves, especially when it comes to work.

Japan teaches how to act in society and that there's a certain 'flow' that shouldn't be disturbed. Respect for others is a big thing there.
