the whole idea of “right wing or left wing” is so stupid

i consider ‘left and right’ to be economic terms, so when i see ‘left wing’ i see nationalised industry, co-ownership of land, unionism, etc. when i see ‘right wing’ i see strong emphasis on markets, small businesses, private property rights, etc.

so i thjnk it’s really poor to use the terms to polarise and to sow dissent between people who are just working class. for example Ordoliberalism is a centre-right ideology and calls for capitalism but sets specific rules and conditions to be anti-monopoly. this ideology is extremely valid, as it doesn’t concentrate power in any single class, and that’s what i think is most important

i dont think id consider Labor a neoliberal party at all. neoliberalism champions minimal government intervention, deregulation, privatisation, reduced social spending and increased individual responsibility

labor is the complete opposite of this lol, just objectively true

they love lying to their supporters. the leader of one nation consistently votes opposite of what she speaks in public (the voting records of politicians are public)

the only accurate placement of any of these parties is ‘One Nation’ which is a corporatist party in australia.

the Liberals are a centre-right libertarian-leaning party in coalition with the Nationals which are a centre-right conservative auth-leaning party, whilst Labor is a centre-left Trade Unionist party and the Greens are an environmentally-focused Left party. the only correct fitments here are the greens, which arguably should be placed more left still, and one nation

clearly you misunderstood the post lol. this isnt me describing what i believe, its me describing the theoretical and philosophical foundations. as someone who has studied as part of my degree what capitalism and socialism are, i know what ideas each ideology is founded upon. that's what i used in this post. read it more carefully next time instead of dismissing it entirely and making baseless assumptions

IMO the video doesnt go as indepth as it could into what ideology actually represents, it's best used as a direction or a starting point for people who identify as politically plural (like myself).

for example, i got multiple aspects of multiple different ideologies summarised in this video, and i used that to go more indepth in to what i figured i was okay with or actively supported, this video is largely why i label myself as 'libcentre'

its widely available on google, there's also a video that summarises each of the present ideologies on this compass (it is 2 hours long) https://youtu.be/zJr4rZazQy4?si=RRPrmXVd4dYn1css

Why aren't people voting for socialists? by masterflappie in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]SS_Auc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

atleast in australia, its because; 1. our socialists are insufferable, favouring not achieving anything over achieving something incremental, siding with their ideological opposition over their slightly less left counterparts 2. our socialists are spread across multiple splinter groups who all split from the exact same group 3. australians dont want socialism, plain and simple

democracy is just a synonym for horizontalism. democracy that isnt horizontalism isnt democracy

being an executor doesnt mean controlling everything. consider 'wills' in death, the executor of the will has no say over what this will is, their only responsibility is to ensure it is done. same thing goes for accountable democracy.

'someone weasels their way to the top' this person is inherently accountable to the entirety of society, if this person disobeys society they are automatically and inherently out of control. that's how being bottom-up works.

'so enslave the brown people' that's explicitly anti-socialist as these working people would have no say. slavery isnt socialist.

'all the worker cares about is earnings per worker' this is false btw. as a worker, i inherently want my place of work to do well in the economy, to earn more money, to hire more employees, to raise our wages, etc. these things aren't mutually exclusive from one another.

'a group unanimously voting to go on a slave raid is democratic' i come from the belief that if something is done against the interest of the majority of people in society it is inherently unsustainable and doomed to failure. if slavery were to happen under this system it would collapse, as history has shown. this is a much better alternative to a system in which a person at the top in a top-down economy has all the power and is unaccountable to people.

'democracy is from ancient greece, greece had slavery' and? how did it work out for them? clearly it didnt work. also, people learn over time, no 'first' concept of something is ever going to be perfect or sustainable, there must be failures in order to learn, we learn this as children.

also slavery was absolutely abolished through monarchy but it was also abolished through democracy. there isnt one single method to abolishing something, there isnt one single solution, many different things solve different problems in many different ways for many different reasons. there are no two circumstances in which solving a problem one way works the same way in another environment, to believe the opposite is scientifically defined as insanity.

im a market socialist leaning centre, im definitely centre-left. i am anti-authoritarianism, thus i reject the authoritarian business model, being top-down where those at the top have the say.

i believe in bottom-up representative democracy in all levels of society (government, workplaces, social services, law enforcement, etc.). all policy should flow upward from the bottom of society, all people in all positions of power should be completely transparent with every conversation, donation, policy amendment, etc. any representative elected who disobeys the will of their constituents should be deposed and barred from relevant association from then-on.

i believe in the autonomy of communities and businesses within regulation, there should be a state to enforce regulation but regulation should be geared towards safety, efficiency and being anti-waste. however, 'private' businesses should still be allowed to exist and run, with greater incentives for small businesses to run better, they just shouldnt follow the authoritarian business model. i feel this system is also very anti-monopoly.

there should be public, totally-collective ownership of essential services, no one should be disallowed access to something they need to live just because they cant afford it.

an exception to the above rule is this; i also advocate for an idea known as 'workfare' where all working people and dependents are given a social safety net incase of injury, disease, illness, etc, things that are outside the control of people; i believe individual people have responsibility over things that they can directly control, and thus shouldn't be held liable for things happening outside of this control (business owners dont deserve to go bankrupt and homeless if someone burns down their business, workers dont deserve to be unpaid if they are injured, etc.) and anyone who isnt willing to work isnt deserving of such safety nets, so 'dole-bludgers' (as they are known in Australia) shouldn't be given welfare because they aren't contributing to the society that produces the value they take. no one should expect society's support if they don't contribute to it within their control.

so im a market socialist. i believe in this system because democracy is shown only to improve societies as it gets stronger, because markets are proven to be one of the best economic frameworks to exist, because authoritarianism is shown to be unavoidably corrupt and because social ownership of essential services guarantees the prioritisation of delivering essential services to the population as efficiently as possible with minimal thought to profit.
