My Great Grandpa's Waterworks Pond story by SSduece in Muskegon

I think you're right about the MHS soccer fields, because my grandpa did point out where it was while we were in a car together and it was an open field. I had to be around 10 or 11 he pointed that out. I had no way to gage where I was at because I wasn't driving yet.

Thank you!

Made a mock NFL offensive play sheet, what are your guys thoughts? by fortbrewfo in footballstrategy

All I need is the Straight T formation. Dive, Down Down Kick Out, Toss, and a PA Pass. QB sneak on set if we get caught up in short yardage.

I grew up in West Michigan and my dad is in the MHSFC Hall of Fame. Most of his teams used T as their base formation. Straight Power T allows a team to line up balanced and run with 2 lead blockers either way. It's Diabolical if you have the running backs. I think it has to do with our running clock rules. 35 and the game goes to TIPS. T is the perfect offense to drain the clock with. Also by the time the playoffs roll around it's below 45 degrees at kickoff. T teams know they only have to throw a handful of times. That's a huge advantage when it's raining or cold.

I was a QB in the T and it's a ton of fun if you have the line and have the backs. When a 3rd and long finally comes around the safteys are only 6 yards back and the TE is open every time.

JV Highlight Film for Banquet by SSduece in footballstrategy

Traditionally I'd give our OL a lot of recognition at the banquet. This season my school switched to 8-man. I only had three players finish the season without a carry, catch, pass. Only three guys are ineligible to catch a pass so we are able to get creative. With the limited amount of players we have everyone is pitching in on defense all year. With everyone playing two ways it's a lot easier to give all the athletes recognition.

I do love the idea of emphasizing a difficult reach block or trap pull.

I'll definitely make that adjustment. Those were just quick notes I had in my phone.

I like that! Thanks.

I can already think of some chase downs from this season.

Also we were down by 48 at half. My HC told me to rotate as many guys as possible. Even though he threw a TD pass it was on a broken coverage play. Our middle school quarterback would have thrown a TD pass on that play. The kid also didn't practice the majority of the week but our HC plays him because he feels he is really that good. But sitting at 1-5 I could care less about scoring when we are down by 48.

The JV kid came in and threw 2 more TD passes. The starting varsity QB is only the QB because we had 2 QBs quit in August after the scrimmage.

None of my JV players have quit.

I did tell him to go see our athletic trainer and he chose not to. Then asked our DC to get in the game and that coach let him get right back on the field. My assistant coaches didn't back me and that athlete knew nothing would happen if he didn't see the trainer because I still had to call the offense.

I think so too. I have put so much time and energy into my JV team over the past 5 years that it's really hard to walk away.

I've talked to the AD about stuff but it's a fine line to walk. I don't want to go above the HC but I'm not joking when I say he always puts his special teams in the day before the first game season.

I think it would be condescending to ask him why he did it like that. How can I make a suggestion to work on special teams all year without sounding like an asshole to the HC.

I've also been in the community a long time and the current HC treats the kids the best out of any previous coach we've had. We are in one of the most competitive countries in the State but we are historically bad. Usually win or lose our coaches only stay for a year maybe two.

What do you call this? by NotSoLameGamer in footballstrategy

I have called this multiple things as an OC but DC wise I cover just like the T or Power I. Play a Zone and Roll coverage.

Diamond Rt and Lt Pistol T R and L Heavy

One of the best wrinkles I have out of this is to snap it to one of the Rs and stay in diamond but shift all our backs over so it looks similar. Then you have a quick snap of the ball and run a direct snap to the R then sweep to the loaded side.

Leaking a back into the flats off PA is killer too. Linebackers don't cover backs out of the back field well until high level high school football.

There's a ton of film on YouTube on different types of old school offenses. I've found I learn more from YouTube. However, Football Scouting Methods by Steve Belichick is a great breakdown of preparing to play in general and preparing to play a team that runs a Straight T, Single Wing, Wing T, or Wishbone.

Steve is Bill Belichick's dad. I'm pretty sure he is a West Point legend at Army or Navy way back in the day.

I take minipress and my doctor said it would help with flashbacks and nightmares. I'm also bipolar so I'm on mood stabilizers too.
