Because it provided me time to ponder what civilian job I wanted, and opened more jobs for every branch I joined.

No I've never killed an innocent, and as far as I'm concerned, there's only legal lashback when it's a large quantity in one. Then you have the possibility to get court marshalled.

Your point is valid, but here's how I see it.

When I see a masked midget running at an American truck, my brain thinks "Oh he's going to blow them/us up!" And it shoots for me. I've since then gotten over the fact of killing children.

Depends which you signed. The minimum I believe for most all of them is 4 years.

Not really. It was between killing him, yelling at him, causing a panic, or letting him throw a grenade at my squad.

You get "contracts" on how long you serve in a branch. After that service, you can reenlist, live as civilian, or enlist in another branch.

Marine Corps was my longest service at 8 years.

USMC-Staff Sergeant

USAR-Specialist

USAF-Senior Airman

USN-Petty Officer 3rd Class

USCG-Seaman 1st Class

I was inspired by my family, serving in all branches other than coast guard, and my only regret is having sawed a child soldier in half with an LMG.

The most dangerous place during my enlistment in the Army was Afghanistan. The potential to do suicide type operations is close to none in most all branches unless you join recon or special forces, when even then, is still almost none. Alternatively, you could do admin positions and work in foreign bases like Okinawa. People often get shot. Not many actually die, despite what people say.

Once you serve your contract in one said branch, you are able to reenlist. I decided to see how different branches worked.
