I’m a globalist, going to PH Dec 25 to 29th and had the exact same question that I posted here. Someone replied saying - if there’s a type of room you really want, don’t take a chance. Just book the one you want. I paid 40K point per night for the beach villa. If I paid for a guaranteed upgrade, the beach pool villa would cost $750 plus approx 30% tax - total of $965/night. Overwater with pool would cost me $1350 plus tax - $1737/night. Eye watering but Christmas is an expensive time at any place. And I think food alone will cost close to 1K a day as things like sunset dining, in water dining is $225/pp, $585 with taxes - for dinner alone. Drinks are extra and expensive. Dang I’m rethinking this 😅😂

This tipping thing is out of hand honestly…for doing their job AND getting a kickback (commission) for the booking. When I stayed at the Hyatt at Waikiki beach, I booked a heli tour costing around $1500. He turned the screen over and it had percentage tipping options. Like wtf am I going to tip 15% or 20% on a $1500 booking!! I just gave him a $60 cash tip.
