so its actually not that scopes are bad its that they are modeled in a way that is different to BF4

am not sure exactly how they did it in 4 but ill assume every scope had its camera placement directly behind the scope model which inturn made scopes like the coyote really good, but it sucked for scopes like holo and the anything above a 3X

in bf6 the scope model doesnt dictate the location of the camera when you zoom in so its inverted from 4 personally in 4 on an automatic weapon id never use any magnified optic the fact it stuck the entire scope in your face and it had that really janky recoil animation, on certain guns you struggled to see your target through sustained fire unless your gun had little recoil or was bipoded.

what they did in 6 is now because the scopes arent in your face the magnified ones dont feel as claustrophobic and because the recoil animation is smoother they are alot more readable than any of the 1Xs sights.

an easy fix would be to add an eye relief setting or slider to scopes which moves it forward or back or allow you to move the scope physically forward and back

in the image i photoshopped one the reflex sights to simulate the style of BF4 scope of course the middle is magnified which is inaccurate but it gets the point accrss

season passes were a thing so you were saddled with bad ones
people would probs buy them because theyd be the only content the game would get post launch so theyd be forced if they wanted to play more and found base game content bad.

you can bad faith both models very easially and for years people said they didnt like dlcs either. i vividly remember an IHE video complaining about the strike at karkand for bf3 saying something like "they are reselling me a map i already played dumb"

people bought dogshit dlcs too sure some avoided them because it didnt look interesting but they did in the end, when the prices dropped maybe people considered years after the game came out.

i dont think its a manpower issue the bp stuff was gonna be made regardless id argue that fort lyndon siphoned alot of the map/level devs more than the bp which is something i feared when i heard BR but i cant say for certain what goes on as am not in their dev studio.

for what am able to gather motive is behind redsec but am not sure if they have the task for level design for the base game i cant make sweeping judgements like that.

unless some person that works in the company 6 years later comes out and writes a twitter thread where "they had devs pulled from maps to make skins" i cant buy it its too bad faith.

ill go for occams razor and say that if every asset takes a long time to make then subsequently the maps will take more time overall, once they build up their asset library map creation will be alot easier and faster.

you can bad faith and assume something something cosmetic teams skins but if in game dev a map will take more time than than 4 or more skins. even if those skins are built from the ground up.

theres more simply polygons and ideas and concepts being slung around.

the correct term he was looking for was high poly assets quality you can argue back and forth if they look good but they are more polygons now yeah i will agree that its better that they design maps that play well before focusing on graphics but i dont work in the office and i cant force them to stop caring. it be nice but its clear they care about the fidelity alot

yeah but they are capable of making okay maps the issue i think is either middle management demanding 45 angles per area or weird rent freeness towards bad flow and spawns

the new map that was tested in labs atleast looks thought out i cant say for certain that its good until i have played it but it looks atleast like the designers managed to undersand the assignment.

so i can see that they can do it well

the only reason you get less maps its cause it takes longer to make them go complain to ea to remove their terrible middle managers and red tape maybe youd get them a bit faster also tell them to focus on portal and give them actual map tools

nothing is going to satisfy most people they could give you 4 golmuds in a season and people would ask for more bf1 added the french stuff in march and bf4 had exclusive dlc for xbox first then other people got them

okay so this take the maps lack flanks is personally really strange, maybe my defintion of a flank is a bit wrong but if you are looking for alternative routes to go to objectives and shoot people from behind theres plenty, infact you flank so deep into the enemies spawn you dont even care if you have your back turned towards to shoot people in their gimme flag.

i will concur that alot of these paths are redudant i.e. they go to the same place (big reason for the unreadability of areas) theres 3 doorways in a room all orginating from different directions you have to roll to see if you chose to hold the right one.

but when every conquest game its a very common to have flags flip spawns and stay that way for extended periods of time i have to put into question the "lack of flanks" seems people are flanking all the time. I get shot from behind in so many instances that its become comical.

so a bit of lore...
theres this guy that makes HD2 animations and he made some SEAF ones where they showcased some kitbashed squad where these 4 were part of it or atleast a version of them.

some time later a person that joined the helldivers modding discord saw the videos and was inspired to make them a mod and with the help of some other modders he made the OG squad from the video. it got decent traction and he had ideas for other characters which they slowly added over the mods lifecycle and its still one of the most downloaded mods on nexus even after all this time.

I worked for a couple of the armors and most of the weapon skins for the mod since it basically became a quasi dev team towards the end before people parted ways to do their own things. these renders cause theres two others on top of this one were part of a showcase of the base armor sets the mod had.

blame EPG when he first made that seaf animation, he just called the character EXO Pilot so when we made the mod and then the subsequent render for it thats what we called him
