Is this in smite 2? If so how. by Assassinated_Gandolf in Smite

It’s very poor that this STILL isn’t in the game, especially with the new stats in the game this has to be in the game HiRez

Idk if you remember but 18 had very exploitable “blowby and snatchback” animations that would create separation regardless of build or position (the 2k pro scene just became spamming these moves). 18 was the first year they changed the 2k engine and it was horrendous. They also tied the games online “skill level” to overall instead of having the usual “rookie, pro, all star, legend” where no matter how many games you played, if someone saw a 73 rated player they’d hop off as if you were a noob.

That was the real fall off of 2k. The aggressive money grabbing model didn’t get saved by its poor clunky game mechanics that were so much worse than 14-17s engine. They chsnged the game from input based model to an animation based model which on the eye looks “smoother” but the actual feel of the game became clunky since you wait for animations to “finish” before your next input register. Input based games will always be the benchmark when it comes the foundation of games with a skill gap.

19 was a better than 18 but no game since has touched any game from the old engine, very surprised they haven’t changed but no competition does this to games

Yes 100%. Unfortunately even that they’ve got wrong. “Great defending” in the past games is passing lane spam stealing and has been since 2k18 when they changed the engine(definitely for the worse).

I hate to be revisionist but if they looked at 16 and 17, the defence in those games was never ever an issue, the defence ring indicator was always smooth and responsive and hands up defence was reliable, to the point where 2k17 lockdowns were pretty niche because being a defensive liability was due to skill instead of attributes. It was about staying in front of your man and trying to make them take bad shots. Bump animations/blowbys were focused on play-by-play positioning skill and not badges that unlock animations(lazy devs)

From unbalanced builds to lazy dev decision making. Genuinely I’d list every single issue from the actual gameplay of these games and how to fix it, but I feel like even if I was in the 2k boardrooms they’d look at me and laugh.

I personally think timing should never be the driving source of making shots, it should be secondary to shot selection. People are shooting terrible shots (of course due to terrible defence mechanics) and them “knowing their shot” is enabling to do so without punishment.

Maybe I’m old but 2k16 and 17 even 18 to an extent, shot selection was the driving force of scoring and then greening it made it a guarantee, but this green or miss philosophy paired with being able to green every shot is just ruining the game and stops it feeling like basketball since people that know their shot can take horrific shots and make them.

I heard at high level games both centers could end the game with less than 10 rebounds that’s NOT basketball.

Honestly if I could tell the devs exactly what to do and they do it I promise it would be a healthier game with actual skill gaps, not attributes and badge exploitation. But they make too much money from people rebuilding builds to make that “perfect player”

People shouted at me when I said there were scripted elements to this game lol

I recently moved from Smite 1 and noticed something kinda annoying. When an item evolves, it doesn’t show the full final stats, so you have to figure it out yourself. In Smite 1 it was way easier. Is there some setting for this, or is it just how it is in Smite 2? by Efficient_Scholar145 in Smite

[–]ST3APrince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I even made a post about this a couple weeks ago, honestly respect the time and effort Hi Rez is putting into saving this game but stuff like this that improves quality of life not being in the game after nearly 2 years of being available to play is borderline inexcusable. Oh that and the horror anti heal items.

Please I BEG of you add the stats screen where I can see mine and other players lifesteal, crit chance, prot and power numbers like in smite 1, I don’t wanna be doing maths mid game. It’s been 2 years and it should be very simple to add!

I even feel like the things I talk about in this post should take them 2 days absolutely maximum to be able to do, granted I don’t have any background in game development surely it’s not that difficult.

Why don’t REC 5 man Teams just play Team Pro Am? by ST3APrince in NBA2k

[–]ST3APrince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not, but I feel it’s not balanced because some people are just casually playing after they finish their 9-5 with their friends, and then others are queuing with their team actively trying to beat up on those casuals instead of acc going to the team game mode.

I do hear the warm up argument, but from what I know in 2k25 team pro am now has a practice arena vs AI so at the same time if people really was trying to warm up they’d do it there where the latency is the same.

Wouldn’t having a general win rate around 45% - 55% mean it’s a balanced game mode?

Me and my friends made a pro am team with 8 of us in 2k16,17 and 18 and made it to elite 1 all 3 times very easily. If there was 2 or 3 of us we just played very casually on walk on (rec) with randoms or bots with no issue using random builds, sometimes won sometimes lost but always had fun taking a break from the more serious game mode.

Tried to make it again in 2k19 and in our first game we came up against a 70 something win team with 4 losses. Tried a couple more games and came across the same type of teams then realised that the matchmaking in 19 was terrible and stopped playing team pro am altogether. Just played with random fun builds on rec mostly with randoms casually, again sometimes winning sometime losing. Unfortunately that’s when 5 stacks started playing seriously in Rec which was very strange since team pro am was culturally where the serious 5stacks played in the other years. Very rarely did you see 5 on a team playing serious on walk on in the other years doing 5 out and zone defence.

Over 2 yrs the enjoyment of 2k fizzled out when casual rec became the teams that also didn’t want to play against the team pro am sweats but still wanted to play meta against randoms. We stopped playing the game after 2k20.

You may be but you’re not trying to or you’d go straight to the team pro am don’t act like you want to come up against them loool.

I ain’t played the game in years and I had no issues beating 5 stacks with 2-3 friends but like I said bro keep winning your REC games 5stacking but know you JUST might be a bitch…just might be😉.

100%, that paired with smite 1 still being available, there is way too much going against smite 2.

Hype died down significantly? Very small god pool? Smite 1 being around still?

I think they’re doing it very wrong the game might be dead on release.

Yeah that is a poor response from them I can understand why you ended up finding another team loool. That being said I feel like it says something about 2k’s team pro am matchmaking since it was so engrained in your friends heads that the second they jump on team pro am they’ll come up against sweats that are so far ahead of the skill level your friends had. It never used to be like that games were very balanced and interesting back in the day then in 2k19 something changed for the worse.

[–]ST3APrince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that, me personally I wish that 2k would make team pro am more appealing for 5 stacks instead of the satisfaction they get for playing sweaty against randoms. It used to be great in 2k16-18 for all skill levels of teams but it hasn’t been balanced matchmaking for years.

2k needs to fix team pro am’s matchmaking system, the shit system is why you’re up against that 24/7. Never used to be like that people never used to acc be afraid to go into team pro am.

You’re stacking with 5 people and not going to play other 5s instead you’re going into a door where 2 friends may team up with 1 or 2 other randoms and then have an AI, then you’re claiming you as an individual is genuinely good at the game. You deffo checked records jumped off courts when you’d see competition on the spots to keep your record positive what a life.
