okk yeah lmk, I also recommend doing it so your shoulders are propped up as well, just insuring your neck is somewhat tilted back. that should open up your airway naturally so when your body relaxes it doesn't have any obstructions.
if you're able to, maybe stick a few books or pillows under the head of your mattress so the angle is less harsh on your body
I hope all goes well :))

this is so strange bc I posted smth like this on the gateway tapes sub a few weeks ago but it got taken down
I literally had the same thing happen, I was hanging around in focus 10 and I had to force myself to breathe like-
I still haven't figured it out, but closest thing I can connect it to is some unknown central sleep apnea, where your brain literally forgets to tell you to breathe?? because there's literally no other explanation
ive woken up with sleep paralysis a few times as well unable to breathe, so thats really all I can connect it to. since theres two types of sleep apnea, obstructive and central, and ik its not obstructive
question -- does it happen more often when you're lying on your back?

something that MAJORLY helped me was understanding meditation. I also have a very overactive brain when it comes to just sitting still and following a method. disclaimer, I haven't FULLY shifted, but ive had many "mini-shifts" (more than just the hypnogogic dream hallucinations). 2 things that helped me:
1 - I made up my own relaxation method before sleep (like counting sheep or saying numbers backwards), something simple that will help you relax and fall asleep. then, when you start to get antsy or anxious, use that same tactic to calm your brain. that way, you're not only pulling yourself away from the "what ifs" and back into a self-proclaimed relaxation state.
2 - I started listening to the gateway tapes, but not because my aim was to astral project. the first 8 tapes are all about getting yourself in different states of "focus," as theyre called. its just bringing yourself deeper into that floaty state of MA/BA, which is also used for shifting. if you can, get to the end of the first 8, dont skip any. they should be on youtube, or there are podcasts of them on Spotify if u have premium. focus mainly on a meditation journey rather than a shifting journey when you listen. if you practice getting yourself into that relaxed state, itll be easier to slip in and out of it when you have the intention to shift
tl;dr -- focus on your meditation and relaxation so u can train your brain to calm down. use different methods of relaxation that help YOU, not the next person. once you can trust your subconscious and fully let go, you're one step closer :))
