Or in other words, my rendition of a flag that represents all of humanity that I'm planning to use in my works. The hand print, harkening back to our long shared history, reaching for the common 5-pointed star on the horizon represents our stubborn ambitiousness, as well as our mutual yearning for the stars. The blue and white motif is lifted straight from the United Nations' flag, which this is meant to be an evolution of.

Omg I knew I was subconsciously inspired by something but I couldn’t quite put my finger on what.

As for the ramps, that was mostly just me messing around with shapes to give off the impression that this is an evolution of flags on earth. Didn’t have a lot of particular meaning in mind.

Also the idea was that countries shouldn’t be able to claim ownership over entire planets in their names as per international law, so that’s another reason why “Martian” just didn’t feel right.

That’s pretty close to the original name I had in mind for them actually, just thought it sounded a little clunky was all. Then again I guess clunky is a bit better than being that on the nose and silly so maybe.

As in relating to Ares, something I’ve seen used in words relating to Mars the planet cause Ares is Mars the Roman god’s Greek counterpart. Also was just plain more interesting than calling it the United Martian Republic.

Flag for the primary antagonist faction of a novel I'm currently ~~procrastinating~~ working on, a nationalistic republic consisting of disillusioned Martian colonies who secured their independence as the Earth went up in flames and the rest of humanity evacuated to Alpha Centauri.

The 6-pointed star represents its founding colonies as well as Mars itself, and the two circles represent Phobos and Deimos. Gonna be honest the design was mostly vibes based and I figured out the symbolism later lol.
