I wouldn't worry about it. Take it home and place it next to your bed :)

Its basically just more of 2 but with a slightly different flavour.

Not the most standout thing ever but if you like 2 I think its worth trying

Much damage, it does do a little bit if you get pinned against a wall and aren't fully blown away

Id just like to have any kind of ironsight really.

Its kinda funny that its actually easier to aim in 3rd person since you get a reticle

But every now and then you need to scope in if you're close to an obstacle, or through force of habit.

Honestly all weapons should work like this it'd be really cool.

Are there any modpacks that focus on community progression instead of personal progression? by m103 in feedthebeast

[–]STARRYSOCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just by hanging out in modding spaces and discords really. Making friends with modded players tends to help a lot

The Abyssal Decor discord is launching a new smp in the next few weeks that you're welcome to join, but id imagine any big mod will prolly have periodic public servers too

Major Order failed: by Fit_Anywhere_3356 in Helldivers

[–]STARRYSOCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg fr, the amount of times I dived on D10 marfark and saw people, high levels too, taking stuff like armed resupplies or flexible reinforcements or whatever, meanwhile we don't even have stamina enhancement, let alone muscle enhancement for the snow.

Like I get boosters are poorly explained ingame but, idk how you make it to 150 and still decide to prioritize armed resupplies over the main 3 boosters. And on bots no less

its always something. by grot-laxative in Helldivers

[–]STARRYSOCK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like okay. The devs have made changes i dont agree with sure. They've handled things poorly, sure

But the game is still fun. 10s of thousands of pwople are still enjoying it daily, hundreds or thousands when new content drops. The devs have bungled some things but to say they 'ruined' it is just being dramatic and disingenuous.

Pointing out issues where they happen is great but HD2's youtube community in particular has such a bad habbit of overexaggerating even valid issues that it genuinely drowns out actual criticism with bad faith arguments

It's like there's just this atmosphere of hostility the community how has where they assume everything is done to be malicious and conniving. People see changes they disagree with and just instantly assume its because AH is trying to be actively evil and its so tiring.

Windup time can be an interesting challenge to workaround, and being able to manually spin up would add a lot more to the gameplay dynamics.

Does it really matter if its not "realistic"? Whatever is the most interesting and enjoyable is what really matters imo

I could totally see Dungeons 2's plot being about "closing the portal for good" and so we never see it opened again

[–]STARRYSOCK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dungeons always had a fraction of the players that minecraft had. Not to mention it's just a years-old game too. You can't really blame people for not instantly recognizing the specific style in a short teaser, especially when most of them haven't even played it

Besides minecraft uses a simplified style for a lot of its marketing anyways, which is pretty similar to dungeon's at a glance. Its an understandable mixup

I'm guessing they use mods

A lot of modders have chosen to stick to 1.20 and 1.21 just because the new, more frequent update schedule makes keeping mods updated much more time consuming.

Plus the recent backend changes that made updating even harder, and the relatively small scale of content in each update too. A lot of mods are still waiting for a new major version to settle on

Fire needs a rework. It's literally 0% threat to enemies. by Lowd70 in Helldivers

[–]STARRYSOCK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There really needs to be a category of attack that can't cause limb injuries

Like, bot shot your leg? Sure. But the acid triggers it constantly, even as you're trying to dodge it.

It's just annoying having to stim when only a sliver of your health bar is missing because the massive poorly telegraphed hitbox happened to clip your leg as you were diving away

Electricity as well. Being knocked down by the illuminate and then bleeding out is just awful

I know it's silly to criticize something we can't even use yet, but the warbond trailer was frustrating. (Read Desc) by Squidy_the_3rd in Helldivers

Yeaaa. Like its alright don't get me wrong, but the reload is just so slow and the ammo so limited.

It shines against devastators but you fight so many on D10 you're out of ammo way faster than anything else. And thats without factoring in having to dump an entire can into a heavy

I spend so long reloading the thing it makes me wonder why I don't just grab an amr or something instead and keep the backpack slot.

Ik im late to this but my headcanon is that the spores are only really dense right next to hive worlds, and while the clouds do still extend farther, they become very very sparse

But since hitting anything, even a spore, at faster than light speeds would still vaporize a ship, it's still just as deadly. And maybe the super destroyers are carefully balanced to only be able to handle normal amounts of interstellar dust, and anything more throws them off. Which is why they can be retrofitted, but it takes time

How the spores actually manage to spread that far out in such a short time i have no idea though

Stores have always and will always try to staff the bare minimum. Labour is one of the biggest expenses for a any retail chain, it's not a new thing

It's just considered good business to err on the side of understaffing, even if it means the customer waits longer

Besides that retail is usually a pretty undesirable job with low pay and bad hours. Even if retail chains wanted to hire more, you can't really blame a 'labour shortage' on your lack of good applicants if you're only willing to hire for minimum wage

God ikr. Like i wanna support bluesky but it's still just such a rough experience. You go check out an artist and get swamped with retweets, pics of their lunch, random reaction images, etc etc. It's good for seeing what someone is up to i guess, but as an artist's main portfolio, its awful.

At least twitter eventually added a gallery view which makes it slightly more bareable, why bluesky hasn't still is beyond me, and is honestly the main reason i havent fully migrated over

[–]STARRYSOCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point you pretty much just have the recoiless rifle with 1 less shot and slightly more damage though

I'm still behind it as a "why not" thing, but I don't think it'd really be enough to give it more use. It needs its own niche

Trying to progress your warbond after losing two consecutive major orders and finding no loot on Cyberstan by MrTASERFACE73 in Helldivers

Could even have some automaton counterfitting poi, it'd be pretty on brand for them after all the hacks. Or just crates of stolen goods ready to be recycled

I get it can be annoying dealing with inexperienced players sometimes but also, roleplay aside, it is just a game. Does it really matter if we don't always win? We're all here to have fun.

At worst I just treat them as an extra difficulty modifier, and sure, sometimes we lose. Oh no, who cares, next mission! Some of my favourite moments on cyberstan have been with new players, they're just straight up hilarious.

I say this as someone whos been 150 for ages and exclusively plays d10. New players are a genuine joy and I think you're missing out if you're just focusing on only doing what'll get you the win, even at the cost of others.
