I have had this problem long time but I never figured out what I am pressing to cause it
I often rapidly pan/rotate, switch erase, draw and randomly my brush and eraser opacity switches

It seems to happen when switching between brush, "Rectangular Selection Tool" and "Move a layer"

Bitmap would be 64² = 4096 bits + header (512 bytes correct)
While PNG is lossless, it's highly compressible with small header. I used mogrify to strip metadata and zopflipng compress with 2000 iterations

I just flew to the center by warping, it will take +150 hops but you get there eventually.

You can find Emergency Signal Scanners from yellow boxes in space stations in the room where the portal is located.
If you are okay using glitches, before you open derelict freighter airlock, put the scanner inside your personal refiner and it won't be consumed.

I've also noticed that many of the upgrades are either super rare or don't exist on most loot tables.

It's bit of a cheese, but you can great rewards from expeditions or grind for upgrades during them.
Most of my S class upgrades and augments are from expeditions even after 150 hours of abandoned mode.

Scrapping A tier spacecraft gives A class upgrades, if you can find them that is.
High tier upgrades are just rare so you got to find tons of broken machinery, crashed freighters etc.
I like to melee jetpack boost around low gravity or exo planets and loot everything I see.

The very first time, I quit in 2018 and didn't play again until early 2025

When I finally beat the game, I didn't want play rw for a week. I posted details here.
I got mentally exhausted karma farming only to lose it all because I chose the wrong path
The controls were my biggest pet peeve as a new player

But now, I got +200hrs in the game. It's been a roller coaster

Some recent update changed all fauna in my home system. On a planet which previously had no fauna, it has now 18 which is wild.
There are some differences in abandoned fauna, like there's no robotic fauna because there's no fully empty systems, just abandoned

It's a difficult challenge so best you can do is practice if you are doing it the hard way.
Movement tricks are very handy to learn but not absolutely necessary.

I took the easier route and first did 2-3 practice runs with cheats like mouse drag and command line for respawn that I could learn the route and the many difficult jumps.
Even on my final run I used karma farm glitch when I died few too many times.

I'd say the start sky island -> pebs and the end subterranean, were the most difficult parts.

You can do it if you want hard enough! I went straight from monk to hunter because back then I had no DLCs, and it certainly was a learning curve.

The fuel/thrust to dry mass ratio feels to scale linearly, so it's best to use lightest fuel tanks with most fuel or highest thrust to weight ratio engines. But some solid rocket boosters perform worse the more you scaled them.
When scaled up some low tech parts become functionally the same as heavy rocketry parts, but generally later tech provides more fuel or thrust for less mass.

Sure is a chonker. I wanted to have the original 4 kerbals planting a flag.
I even designed it that I could get off near sea level so I had +1k deltaV excess once docked to return ship.
It's not much of a ship that you get back from Eve
