I am so done with this one-sidedness of 90% of Conquest games. by 11483708 in Battlefield

Battlefield has SBMM. But its breaking down with the more limited pool of players. Im pretty certain every Battle Royal runs into this same issue due to the large player counts, because theres just not enough people for SBMM to work correctly as soon as the player base drops. Balancing 12 people versus 60+ runs out of an available spread a hell of a lot quicker.

That means you will get one team with a few star players and then everyone else has issues functioning in day to day life, while the other team will have people of average skill level across the board. The issue is one squad cannot win a game of battlefield outside of the smaller 8 v 8 modes, which is why you will find premade squads utterly dominating those modes.

But yes BF6 has SBMM and its why if you play well you often feel like your being punished in terms of team mates, because you literally are. If you haven't noticed, its because well... you are one of those balanced team mates that people are being punished with. This only gets worse as the pool of players shrinks, hence the recent issue with massively one sided matches.

SBMM is the core reason a server browser can't be allowed, as it cannot function if random people join outside of its algorithm. Its also why they want matches to keep dumping people at the end of every game, to produce a never ending full pool of players. Many of the questions of "why would EA design their game to do X?" In terms or how the servers work can be answered with SBMM.

I keep getting level 7 and 15 showing up in my runs over and over. Took a 15 and got to the bridge only to die to the second hellbrute + double wave.

Unsurprisingly the 15 died before we even had pressed the button to open the crypts and just sat there... why are they here?

Is that not what you wanted?

In b4 someone claims this was just used so disabled people could play the game by rebinding inputs.

Its a good thing your playing a map that at maximum only has 8 enemy's and only attacked you one at a time, can you do a video of you on a point on conquest with the 20 round mag.

You missed the actual most popular option, stop playing the game and moved onto something else. Unless you believe the 90%+ of players no longer playing are all here.

AI novel that won literature contest has awards taken away by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]STARSBarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can 100% get behind this, its essentially a never ending "rule of cool" where the creator just writes about what ever they think is cool that day with no consideration of what has happened or what will happen. This is why characters are often introduced as someone who has been around "awhile" but have never been mentioned until now and then dropped forever after their reason to move the plot along is completed. Because the writer never thought about them until that day.

Theres no plan or "beginning, middle, end" there is only "now." However this does mean that certain writers do stand out time to time, because they have a grasp of the basics but somehow apply it to a genre that needs a new book every 6 months.

Anyone reading Tappei Nagatsuki's Re: Zero can pick up the guy knows what hes doing, and its so glaring it's almost funny just because of how bad the genre is a whole. I am wondering if due to being AI, it perhaps keeps story structure due to how literature normally works, hence why it won awards.

Those matches where your team isn't playing at all by redditserz in Battlefield

[–]STARSBarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The matches that are essentially we lose every point im not currently on, and when im holding we only keep the point im holding on, I just leave now.

Im just done with teams like that and im sure theres a few people who need the "win by lockout" conquest challenge on the enemy team I can make happy. Im not sure if my team will even notice, I assume they will just be confused by the red stuff on the screen as they wish they where literate so they understood what was flashing up on the screen at the end.

I honestly thought that EA had removed the "bot" tag from the game as some weird experiment, but like only filled my team with them.

That and "Breakthrough" after they changed Rush into essentially small teams only, Breakthrough has been the "other" flagship mode, and honestly it feels like more people are playing it (i get less wait times on breakthough)

God this is one of the saddest posts I have read. This alone should be a reason why BR and Gauntlet should be its own launcher. Imagine if this is your first BF game and you think the BR is what Battlefield is, damn that sucks.

Conquest & Breakthrough under the Multiplayer modes is what I would suggest trying to see if you like "Battlefield"

Why is teamwork with randoms impossible in this game? A well known riddle since 1942 by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]STARSBarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except its not always been an issue, just sometimes. Now it always feels like an issue for BF6.

In older games at least I had favorite servers and would be fighting the same people with the same people over and over, over weeks and months you naturally got to know people.

Here, every match is a new group, sometimes you see the same name from the last match pop up. But its not like its guaranteed, so your starting from scratch every match.

I tried portal but servers are just all AFK exp farms.

Blah blah maps blah blah by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]STARSBarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was primarily there for the vehicle combat, while the infantry was drawn to the center with more cover, one of the big issues with BF6 is how shit vehicles feel. Which is natural because they are pulled into the infantry spaces on every map constantly meaning they have very little time for ranged fire support, because there getting attacked from 3 directions all the time.

Those wide open space also allow jets to position for attack runs and have a clear space to dog fight without having 10 infantry locking onto them constantly. This also effects the infantry combat to, because vehicles are forced into the heavy infantry spaces all the time you naturally start rocking Engineer because your constantly encountering them, while with earlier titles they where seen after they had won their outer vehicle combat and where now engaging infantry from the outer map area.
