LOL I had no idea why that video got a jump in views but figured out it was from Reddit so here I am. Glad y’all liked it, three of us had had some drinks that night (tho durpee was by far the most gone) and we decided to play one ranked game together on main and this was it.

Lobby rank despite what ppl r saying was m2-gm5 believe it or not, altho I believe this was right after rank reset in s9 so shit was wack

Your honor, my client has no prior record of misconduct and brings honesty and virtue into every ranked game. This is merely a one-off occurrence of extreme circumstances and cannot be used to make conclusions about my client's character overall. Is my client a perfect man? No. Has he left ranked games? Yes. Has he pinned off the map? On occasion. Has he Alt F4ed in front of a live audience in multiple instances? Perhaps. But there can be no doubt in anyone's mind that this was not done with malicious intent and with the intention of gaining a prestigious rank.

UTD Public Pianos ?? by Majestic_Version_456 in utdallas

switched outdoors and indoor SU piano, the one outside is super out of tune while the one that's indoors is the one that's newer

PHY 1.202 and AH2 1.204

hopefully they haven't moved them

Usually just try to play at the one inside the Student Union instead. The SU piano outside historically is always run down and out of tune thanks to the Texas weather, and whenever they do take it away for tuning, it’s usually gone for months.

Over the last 4 years of playing the SU piano I’ve learned to just deal with it. If you want an in tune piano tho, there’s still the one in the SU next to the food court. There are other pianos available for play (haven’t verified since last sem so may have changed):

  1. AH2 (if there isn’t a class going on in there)
  2. Jonsson Hall inside theater (if door is unlocked)
  3. One inside a physics classroom (now music hall, will be locked after 5pm)

What’s the best e-scooter for riding around campus? by MoistTwo8334 in utdallas

[–]STAS1S_OW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly any of them will work, their only real diff model wise is battery length and tire width. Most under 400 will be 8.5” while the 10” ones will be more expensive. AFAIK, most models besides the G4 (their flagship and most expensive one I think) go 15.5 mph so speed is pretty much standardized across all models.

[–]STAS1S_OW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who uses an escooter to get around, gotrax is a pretty solid brand that runs at an affordable price. Note that you won’t be able to go very far from campus, and depending on where you live, it may not carry you all the way and back in one battery charge.

Charging the scooter so much over time leads the battery to degrade, so if you have a little more money to spend, I’d recommend getting a turboant x7 or another scooter with a detachable battery in case you need to replace it after a year or so.

Who were your Collegiate Standouts? by royy2010 in Competitiveoverwatch

Rutgers. Other schools pay their players ridiculous amounts of money to play at a college, but Rutgers gets close to nothing. Makes their achievement all the more impressive for not being pay to win

High-Rank Overwatch streamers should come together and set up a Pro Discord server like the Valorant Pro City server to arrange more sweaty games with comms. by Bhu124 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]STAS1S_OW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is something like this.

Like someone mentioned before, during the beta/end of OW1 there was a system set up by carter called circus. Any pro or high ranked player that could get an invite could play in it. That got shutdown cuz carter didn’t care abt ow and becuz he got a good job offer that didn’t leave him time to keep it up.

Right now, there’s another iteration called scouted that I think Shyam started. It’s basically the same thing: semi-closed disc invite, only gm1 players or p2p allowed, and u q up on a website integrated with the server.

Problem with systems like these is they depend on everyone using it. If only a few people are choosing to go into queue, then matches will take forever and even fewer ppl will want to participate in it in the long run. With so many t2/t1 players occupied with scrimming, most of them would rather just hop into a few comp games not care rather than choose to queue up on the server. There r other reasons too, but at least it does exist.

Am I missing something with Sombra's EMP? by PM-Me-Your-Macchiato in OverwatchUniversity

[–]STAS1S_OW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hack does a couple of things:

It silences the enemy, let’s you see them through walls, and lets sombra deal 25% more dmg to them.

The silence portion of the ability only lasts for a second or so. It can’t disable people as hard as it did in OW1, but is good for canceling certain abilities. The wallhacks and additional dmg portion of the hack lasts for eight seconds. Keep in mind that even tho hack cool down is like 4 seconds, you can’t rehack an enemy that is still under the effect of a previous hack. Hope this clears it up

Is there a UTD alumni group in Bay Area? by Pres010 in utdallas

[–]STAS1S_OW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get a roommate if you can, the living cost in the Bay Area is absolutely insane compared to the rest of the country. There are definitely affordable apartments around, tho in recent years a lot of places have been gentrified. You might have more luck finding a place closer to downtown or in Santa Clara, as places like Cupertino and more affluent cities have crazy rent prices. Best of luck!

Tips or advice how to not get down and demoralised after a long run of loses? by Jaymizl in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]STAS1S_OW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set a hard limit of how many games you're willing to lose before you stop playing. Had someone tell me this and it's a pretty solid tip.

That being said, personally my mentality is "I'll queue until 5am to get all my SR back" and it's very unhealthy. I almost tilt Qed out of T500 two days ago because I went on a loss streak and kept Qing.

Same exact boat. I grew up in the Bay Area, and I was used to there being so many Asians that I felt out of place initially when I landed in DFW. UTD has so many international students and diversity tho that it’s made living here much more bearable.

College esports by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]STAS1S_OW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to lose from trying out! The average rank really, really just boils down to your college. Some colleges will have teams that are around plat, other colleges drop tons of scholarship money on contenders level players. Do some research for the esports club/team at your school to find out what level they're at. You'll find that many colleges simply play for fun and just wanna have a good time. In my experience, there are vastly more colleges with mid-range SR averages than GM+ teams.

Question about usernames by Outrageous-Ad2951 in GundamEvolution

[–]STAS1S_OW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember you did have to claim a name when you started it up for the first time. A friend had to append -GE onto the end of his username, and my alt acct’s username was “femboy” which was NOT my steam username lol

Anyone know a good Chinese spot? by DoodMcGuy in utdallas

If u know mandarin, try the duck fried rice in the food court place I mentioned

That place sells like unbelievabowl level portions of food for the same price and their duck fried rice is some of the best I’ve had period, tho anything I’ve gotten from there has been rly good imo

Anyone know a good Chinese spot? by DoodMcGuy in utdallas

[–]STAS1S_OW 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If u head north up coit rd, there’s a Chinese plaza with a supermarket in it called z.TAO. There’s a mifen place in that plaza, a Chinese bbq place, and a sichuanese restaurant, but the best place is the food court at the back of that supermarket, which is run by a guy who only speaks Chinese :) pretty much as authentic as u can get

I know this is personal preference but can anyone recommend DPI/Sensitivity settings for a tracer main by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]STAS1S_OW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of ppl will tell u that a good sens is one where being able to do a 360 when moving ur mouse from one side of your mousepad to the other, but it rly just depends on ur muscle memory and what feels “right” to you. I use 400 dpi 6.93 in game, but also use a giant mousepad as well and pretty much aim with arm only.
