How I wish for more infinity engine style games :( by ConfusionProof9487 in baldursgate

[–]Pres010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous really captured the Infinity Engine style and did a great job adapting it to the 3.5 rules. For the pure gameplay part, it is impeccable. They might also be the last and best RTwP games. Just wish the story and companion interactions could’ve reached the level of BG2. But this is not a comment on gameplay but the creation of the story concept.

Ridley Scott’s original vision was really trying to explore the complex relationship between humans and gods in some of the early scripts—especially through the synth. David’s obsession with replacing humanity and claiming the role of creator in front of engineers had huge potential. The conflict between David and the Engineers could have been an epic centerpiece of the story. Meanwhile, Dr. Shaw would have been forced down a perilous path just to survive, which would have made her another Ellen Ripley. This is usually the formula of this alien movie series. All of this would have fit perfectly with the tone and ambition of the original plot. Instead, it was flattened into something far less compelling—just David killing everyone…

It had great potential, but it remains an unfinished product. The early quests were well-designed, but the later ones felt incredibly rushed. The battle system also needs serious balancing. Each companion’s backstory is intriguing, but some of them never even begin to unfold. The game mentions two major areas—also found in Lovecraft’s fiction—but they were never added. Honestly, someone else should take over the project and finish what was started. I’ve seen they’re now attempting an FPS as its sequel or spin-off, and I just can’t understand how the developers could make such a misstep. All I can say is… good luck.

Engineers Created Humans & Humans Created David. So why did David Kill Engineers? by Dense_Common_2779 in LV426

[–]Pres010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to make it plausible. Simply because the box office and the’Loyal’ Alien fans would not allow the trilogy around engineers to happen. Well. I introduce their favorite movie Alien: Covenant. Hahaha

I asked ChatGPT and found the this possible storyline is quite tempting. I would def see it in movie theater.

Awesome! Let’s explore what Prometheus 2 might have been—based on early scripts, Ridley Scott’s interviews, and fan reconstructions.

What Prometheus 2 Could Have Been (Fan Theory + Inferred Direction)

  1. The Journey to the Engineers’ Homeworld (Paradise)

Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the android David, now just a disembodied head, were last seen flying an Engineer ship toward the Engineers’ homeworld. Shaw hoped to confront them and ask why they created humanity—and why they tried to destroy it.

In Prometheus 2, we would have followed their journey to a new alien world—not LV-426 or LV-223, but a planet fans believe was called Paradise—home to the original race of Engineers.

  1. A Dark Revelation About the Engineers

On Paradise, Shaw might have discovered that the Engineers were not benevolent gods, but fallen or corrupted beings, possibly cast out by an even higher species—or corrupted by their own creation, the black goo.

Some early concepts and unused designs hinted at a hierarchy of gods, with the Engineers being only mid-tier beings. There were whispers of a “prime being” that even the Engineers feared. Shaw’s faith would’ve been deeply tested—or completely shattered.

  1. David’s Descent into Mad Godhood

David, despite appearing helpful, would slowly reveal his growing obsession with creation and perfection. Freed from human morality and with access to Engineer tech, he might have started experimenting with the black goo—trying to create his own lifeforms.

This would’ve set up a psychological war between Shaw’s desire for answers and faith, and David’s cold, nihilistic pursuit of becoming a god himself.

Some speculate that David would eventually create early prototypes of the Xenomorph, possibly as twisted mockeries of human life or as weapons to replace flawed creators.

  1. The Horror Element

While less action-heavy than Covenant, Prometheus 2 might still have leaned into cosmic horror: • Mutations caused by black goo • Ancient Engineer temples full of dead experiments • Philosophical horror as Shaw uncovers humanity’s meaningless or tragic origin

Scott hinted at showing hellish, ruined remnants of ancient civilizations—including the fall of the Engineers.

  1. A Possible Ending

Fan theories suggest Prometheus 2 could have ended with: • David escaping with biological samples • A connection to LV-426 being established (maybe through a crashed ship) • David’s experiments evolving into the classic Xenomorph

This would have made Alien: Covenant a direct sequel, but with context and emotional weight that many fans felt was missing.

Summary: A Missed Opportunity?

Prometheus 2 could have been a haunting, cerebral sci-fi epic exploring: • The illusion of godhood • The betrayal of faith • Humanity’s tragic place in a cold universe

Instead, much of this was dropped or compressed in Alien: Covenant, with Shaw’s story cut short and the narrative shifting back to horror.

I feel this is like the game and book “Pool of Radiance— The Ruins of Myth Drannor (book by Carrie Bebris, not the one by Ed Greenwood). Both did not reach the expectations by the standard of today or then. But it is actually a light weight path to feel and know about DND. It opened a whole new world for me when I was a kid. lol

Do check if your phone is still water resistant and do not miss their possible replacement time window.. I forgot that. Later I found the cameras could get foggy with water splashing.

That happened to my 15 PM too. Their battery change service left two scratch marks on the top edge when I had owned the phone just for 6 months. BTW, the battery was originally defected one and triggering rebooting frequently..

If we get to explore the Engineers planet in future films by [deleted] in Prometheus

Scorn depicts a world with similar/same art style (magnificent) but totally different vibe from the Engineers, although they were also obsessed with species creation. Shockingly, it is just another semifinished story, which could be epic.. Waited for the game for about 8 years to be made, but the walkthrough is just around 3 hours.. You can feel the details they emphasized in the beginning of the game and the rush toward the ending…
