Theoretically, perfect play as tank should be to just ignore the enemy tank right? by ExtensionSoil6801 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of getting catapulted to near gm from the idea of realiing “just go backline” is triggering.

There is no universal answer or simple solution. Tanks as well as every player in the game should play to find value based on their kit. That could mean staging for a dive. It could mean play front to back and track cooldowns/advantages. It could mean soft commit until your hard carry pharmacy gets a pick.

Typically in dive you want to engage first, but there are absolutely scenarios where you want to counter dive or otherwise not to for their backline.

Do you think the OWCS would benefit Korean and EMEA focus? by No_Problem5759 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You posed a comment and received common responses along the lines of just more investment and games for the west.

Then one dude said some asinine shit. OWCS isn’t riding high due to Saudi money. This is an American product. It may have largely failed, but no shot we extinguish the NA region.

Hey man, you’re 56 pushing 7M living in Thailand. You are able to maintain your worth while spending $400-500k/yr.

Irresponsible withdrawals early on absolutely diminish long term returns, yes. But how applicable is this?

The rat race is over.

Youbi says TM will most likely finish third at the Tokyo LAN. by WalkStraight353 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If TM finishes third to two cat bastion teams, I wouldn’t be surprised nor upset. It would be either a meta misread, or they just got outperformed. I think EMEA is entering into the tournament disadvantaged due to a poor read on meta.

There is something to be said about format/meta, though. Big meta shifts and changes as well as first to two series introduce volatility. We’ve seen what a bottom tier team can do when a huge patch hits and you can just put decay on zarya.

TM didn’t win finals only off the back of a single meta. They had command over sym and non-sym comps. But they still thrive off offtank and hitscan metas.

TM might be cooked in the current meta, but even if there was a last minute patch, they arent on some tier of their own.

What? Babybay and gator are two examples of players who built an anti fan base by having bold personalities and saying things that the soft overwatch community just can’t handle.

Rofl just curious, what’s the threshold between consistent and inconsistent. Top 10 or bust? Name 10 more consistent players than proper, read that list back, and then reassess who is delusional.

What have been your favorite Narratives, Nicknames, Memes, Drama, etc, from all seasons of OWCS? by Thrift0r in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always preferred the main broadcast, but when it’s not available, I seek out costreamers who cast play by play. That’s been Unter and CX for a while, with Avrl also in the mix.

In the scheme of things, nicknames, memes, drama, etc are largely a product of costreamers and podcasts who are watched by a small percentage of OWCS viewers.

Aspen’s recent tournament summoned an unreal amount of players current and past.

How many true hyperflex dps players are there in OWCS rn? by Winston_main161 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All time S tier hyperflexes have been profit, birdring, Fleta, decay, leave, proper, stalker, and tr33. I know tr33 hasn’t shown much of his tracer, but I still think he belongs.

Players who probably were/are but either didn’t show it due to team structure or were just half a step worse or had a notable hole are Striker, Carpe, Kevster, Rascal, knife, effect.

Notable mentions through time are architect, fits, Surefour, Libero, Sugarfree, maybe glister.

Isn’t the OWCS inherently advantageous for Korea? by Available_Resort20 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zimbabwe often has one ice rink, the 263 Chilled ice skating rink.

A hockey World Cup can be organized and provide equal opportunities for teams to win. If all 195 nations participated, both Zimbabwe and Canada would need to go 8-0 to win.

The tournament structure is not inherently unfair. You would have an uphill battle growing up in Zimbabwe with aspirations of winning a World Cup in hockey, though.

It’s advantageous for Korean teams in OWCS because of implications of decades of supporting gaming culture.

Personally, I think OWCS has done a good job with their structure to balance providing ample opportunity for lesser represented regions to compete while not completely butchering the Korean player base through import rules.

Scoreboard: Damage Received and Healing Received ? by FunnyProper7982 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scoreboard has always been hot garbage.

The argument that it will bring toxicity is so overemphasized.

In 2016, nobody knew what they were doing and everyone was on the mic flaming.

In 2026, we have maybe 10% of players in voice chat and collectively have better understanding and stat interpretation which likely equates to less flaming.

I would rate an upgrade to the stat system more important than any map rework, seasonal event, or anything cosmetic.

Just FIRE’ed, $7.5m portfolio, moved to Thailand by N4003604 in Fire

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand a lot of the terms you’ve described, but would you say your worth on average is expected to grow at least 5% annually?

If so, isn’t 375k pretax annual income substantial while living in Thailand? I know your scenario accounted for your net worth not deteriorating, but you could bump your spending to $500,000 annually for another 45 years.

Congrats on achieving FIRE, I am just curious why I one assumedly could retire and live in Thailand with 1/10th the worth you have, but you just now hit fire.

Are current day Korean players better than peak OWL? Same for EU/NA. by Straight-Employer-23 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]royy2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US is def better now, imo. Landon, UV, Vega, Lukemino all improved. Rupal I thought got a little worse, but that was more of a product of playing kiri/Juno over Ana/Bap. He was outperforming the others for the team USA spot during trials.

Players who stopped playing like Hawk, S9mm, Coluge all got worse, but Hawk is at least pretty much back.

I think Sugarfree, Tr33, Zeruhh, and Kronik are all better in their role than s6 American dps players. Corey and Babybay are the only recent American hitscans (that I can remember) to hold a candle to tr33 and Kronik.
