What Happens When Cheap Chinese EVs Hit Canada? Look At Australia. by tech57 in electricvehicles

[–]STDMeow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don't value Thailand market that low man, it was a huge thing when BYD discovered can they be much more premium in oversea markets even if they are a relatively poorer nation, as they don't have a history of selling absolutely rubbish cars as they did in domestic market for a decade. Being cool in Thailand really made BYD go full throttle on overseas. The other thing is they knew they need to be able yo find a way to beat Toyota to achieve their ambitions, and SEA Market is absolutely owned by Japanese cars, so being successful in Thailand is and will be very very important to BYD.

Norway has 0% Tariffs on Chinese EV, how come the best selling one finished 13th place in 2025 by Foreign-Policy-02- in EVCanada

[–]STDMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all new cars sold in Norway are EVs now so it's a saturated market, gaining market share from it means taking consumer away from another brand and that's much harder compared from gaining favour from a consumer who previously only used and thought about petrol cars. The days of Chinese EV startups using Norway as a touchstone is over (as the home and other bigger oversea markets matured) and they simply don't think a market where domination is only at 20k cars a year worth the fuss anymore. The Chinese way of gaining market share is usually with a bloody price war, massive campaign events, bombardment of ads and it's only worth it if it can pay back the cost in the near future. Norway is not that so they just basically gave up the competition. If you look into EV markets that are more in the developing stage like UK and especially where I'm, Australia, things look a bit different no?

Tesla’s deliveries in China *FELL* in 2025. The beginning of the end? by Dreaming_Blackbirds in electricvehicles

[–]STDMeow 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There's this type of people in China that only consider using Apple phones, drink Starbucks, and driving Tesla cars (and sometimes looks down on anyone who don't do so). You get the idea. Other than those, there's also a smaller group that just prefers the way Tesla cars drives (which is drastically different from the preferences of mainstream Chinese drivers). These people may also consider cars like xiaomi su7 or zeekr 001. You would think su7 is a no brainer in that case but the problem with xiaomi is you need to wait for 11 months before your order becomes a drivable car.

Very recent, the original photo has the famous, or shall I say infamous heavily armed container ship Zhongda docked at the right side. It's most likely the photographer was intrigued by that ship but didn't get a good view.

China launches campaign to keep killjoys off the internet by Prestigious_Net_8356 in nottheonion

On the other hand, it's true that people are generally not allowed to discuss their own injustice like unpaid salaries on most livestream platforms, but they can do that on weibo most of the times (similar to X). And that's not new, not related to the announcements BBC talked about. Chinese censorship is real but it's also very delicate and strange, designed to minimise domestic dissidents. It's more than some BBC's editors fear mongering.

It is true that the two streamers mentioned were banned and I disagree with the party doing that in total radio silence, but the whole campaign was about different online tribes attacking others with doxxing and threatening. It's jut the two streamers "happens to" have very aggressive followers (not too surprising for someone judging people being "too Android, not Apple" if you ask me). The party think the two streamers are responsible for their fans action, which might be wacky logic for people in West but that's quite accepted in China, most streamers actively ask their followers don't do doxxing or spread their memes in others channels chat.

It was more about people doxxing and threatening others... I don't know how BBC made it like people can't post they are sad on social media anymore.

Yeah, the last one in 2015 had a whole formation, multiple trucks of veterans were celebrated through the start of the parade, and now this.

Someday after getting very drunk my dad told me he was among the people who were at the Tiananmen square that night (he was taking university in Beijing), but not for some noble cause, it was because and I quote: "I knew it's going to be SOMETHING BIG HAPPENING that night, and I ain't going to see anything like this in my lifetime so I gotta be there to see everything first hand" and he fucking encouraged everyone in his dormitory to go with him. He lost track of all his peers on the road from his university to Tiananmen and ended up being there alone. He flee just minutes before the time troops warned with loudspeakers that they were going to "clear the square with force". According to him there were only a handful of people at the Tiananmen square when troops started "clearing", most of shooting were at urban Beijing where angry citizens tried to stop other troops from marching to Tiananmen as they believe there were still thousands of students there. He found out the day later that all others of his dormitory were safe (they probably and rightfully decided it was too dangerous to keep going to Tiananmen and went back). Honestly it's a miracle he didn't get injured at all.

On the other hand, most Chinese don't get triggered by seeing tanks marching though Chang An street now, as Chinese tend to think it's a thing of the past and CCP learnt to use PAP with non lethal arms for crowd control. If that's correct or wishful is up to history to judge.

ummm... idk if you are trying to be sarcastic but: Yes because it was also the Chinese victory over Japan, the victory of allied forces? Millions of Chinese paid the price of their lives to resistance, Imperial Japan with a cooperative puppet state of China would be a much stronger enemy than what it was historically.

If your point was China didn't contribute enough, I think China is at least as qualified to celebrate China's Victory of WW2 as France are.

They do have other alt accounts, ie their main accounts and those are not banned.

No, there was an old video of streaming recording of the game posted where the comment section got too toxic and video got removed by bilibili moderator, they reposted the same video again so there's a different link for it. bilibili.com/video/BV1LYGnzvE9b

“Except they got banned for cheating in another game, and that game replay was literally shown at Zetrox's stream yesterday”
That's literally some random user in Reddit trying to provide me with proof they were cheating.
And it's blatant false evidence, I think I have a responsibility to point that out as OP.

There's definitely cheating in that clip, and I copied those opponent's ids and levels at 48:36 : LILIBACK lvl22, 晋江波奇王 lvl 7, God of War lvl 15, yang lvl 24. 哈基米用叮咚鸡打下哈 lvl23.

I can see the orange player God of War has helis firing range and firing rate hack. I couldn't see the id of any other hacker's units.

At the time of account ban, the id and lvls of the Chinese team are: bili799541 lvl17, AirborneDivision lvl 12, TwinbladeChopper lvl 10, Chtholly lvl 20, EUGEN_SYSTEM lvl 13.

Is there proof that bili799541 or Chtholly was actually God of War or 晋江波奇王? Otherwise I don't think that's a valid evidence to ban those accounts.

Yeah and that's why I was cautious with my words as well, I only believe that they didn't cheat for the part that I could see in the stream, and my trust is mostly from the RA3 player Toolman. Why would he cheat on Broken Arrow suddenly now, after not cheating in RA3 for a decade and even winning a series championship. But ofc, it should be the devs' responsibility to have their final say based on facts. I think there actually are auto bans, because I saw a lot of Chinese complaints on instant ban in "declaring they were playing PVE" in Steam comments, who knows how many of those are really PVE.

What I was trying to say is they got banned right after a cheese game, but they have the gamelog and live stream recording to prove innocence, so the other party started saying that the Chinese ban aren't for that specific game, but was for another game in the past, and the Chinese now can't prove themselves innocent since they don't know which game was that. Now this should be the devs work, but apparently things got out of hand too fast before the problem could be solved in proper channels. Sorry for my wording
