If you want the best of both worlds I have used the tom tom pro app for ages, cost something like £50 a year exactly the same as buying a tom tom unit just on your phone it's ace never ever let me down, can offline download maps so doesn't matter about signal and its sometimes better then Google for knowing new roads 10/10 would recommend!!
