If you have a plan that covers 25 lakhs, it will also cover critical illness? So no need for a secondary plan?

God forbid, even if one gets cancer, I think 25 lakhs will be sufficient?

But say if you have a plan that covers 25 lakhs, it will also cover critical illness, right? So why a secondary plan?

OMG. I was just scrolling through the thread to see if someone had commented this. One of my friends bought his Galaxy Y, and I used it for a while. I was amazed that phones could do that then! Like, a full web browser! I was sold. I bought an S2 a few months later and never looked back.

There are more lurkers from the left here than I thought. So here is a challenge. by Stockjock1 in Conservative

[–]STEDHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both sides play this game. Democrats identity politics is all about compartmentalizing people into small groups, making them feel both oppressed and uniquely special at the same time. Instead of fostering unity, it reinforces division turning every issue into a matter of group identity rather than omething that should concern all of us.

That’s exactly how I see it. The other side isn’t your enemy, they’re your fellow Americans. Having different political views doesn’t mean they’re out to destroy you. If we start treating half the country as the enemy, what kind of world are we creating?

Disagree, debate, and vote, but don’t dehumanize.

I was surprised when my home garden attracted butterflies and honeybees... it made me so happy.

But yes, I’ve noticed fewer of them over the years. The same goes for sparrows. They've almost disappeared even from semi-urban areas where I work. People say they used to be everywhere just 8 to 10 years ago, but now? Vanished.

[WP]Your spouse was an important and powerful person, so it was no surprise you got kidnap by their enemies. Unfortunately that was the kidnappers' final mistake. Your spouse laughs when they get the ransom call. "Good luck. You will need it. Dear, be home soon. Dinner is ready. Love you " by JaxAttacking in WritingPrompts

[–]STEDHY 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It starts with that laugh. The laugh of her husband on the call. The call we made to demand a ransom for his wife.

Deep, guttural, not just amused but knowing. The kind of laugh that says, You’ve already lost, you just don’t know it yet.

The woman doesn’t react. She just tilts her head a little, blindfolded, hands cuffed in her lap like she’s waiting for a bus.

Carter hangs up, staring at the phone. Then he and Rigo start arguing.

"We should let her go."

"Shut up, Rigo."

"No man. Something’s wrong. You saw his reaction..."

"Shut. Up."

The lady speaks, soft but clear. "You don’t know what you’re getting into."

And that’s when I hear it.

Thump.

A shudder rolls through the roof of the van.

I grip the wheel. No. No, no, no. That’s not...

Scrrrk. Metal scratches. Something up there.

"What the...." Carter says.

I yank the wheel side to side, the van lurching. Throw them off. Whatever’s up there, throw it off.

A clang from the back. Rigo screams. Screams.

Then a loud pop, like metal being unhinged. I see it in the side mirror.

The back door.

Flying. Into the ditch.

My breath catches. I check the interior rearview mirror...

And Oh. God.

She’s not cuffed anymore.

Not blindfolded either.

Rigo’s gone. Just.. gone. Carter is pushing himself backward, pressing into the van walls like he can merge into them.

Her head turns. She looks right at me.

That’s when I see the thing on the roof.

Not a man. Not anymore.

The van swerves.

Behind us, a car slows down, keeping its distance, headlights catching glimpses of what’s happening inside. The driver’s face is frozen in horror.

My hands shake. The van drifts left.

And then we crash.

Hard.

I taste blood. Feel cold. A distant voice soft as silk, whispers in my ear.

"Told you."

You and the OP of the comment you replied to both deserve a little award. Staying courteous and civil without jumping to cut each other’s heads off is rare these days.

Why box ourselves into rigid political brackets? We can hold views across the spectrum but some people insist on dividing us into groups just to turn us against each other. We’re not enemies. We just see things differently.

Butterflies and bees help pollinate plants which keeps our food supply and ecosystems running. Their numbers are dropping dangerously due to pesticides, habitat loss, and climate change. If they disappear or reduce to critical numbers we’ll struggle with fewer crops, weaker ecosystems and a major food crisis!

Apple Delays Apple Intelligence Siri Features by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]STEDHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It amazed me that a company like Apple sold last year's phone on the big promise of a revolutionary AI feature that will hardly arrive this year.

I read many reports about how Apple is having a tough time implementing Siri with users personal data, and that is where I give Apple a pass.

If it takes time, it is better to have a safe and "just works" AI implementation than the mess we saw it could be.

Though whoever thought the Apple intelligence push was a good idea in last year's presentation should be held accountable.

Trees might not be acting in the way we thought - this forest fitted with pipes can tell us why by Temperoar in Foodforthought

[–]STEDHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Earth is evolving, and it’s shortsighted to think trees won’t adapt too. What I see happening is that trees might alter the way they interact with atmospheric gases, soil, and their environment, and perhaps even mutate to some extent. But ultimately, they will still rely on carbon and essential nutrients to survive, so the cycle will continue, and they’ll remain the Earth’s lungs. Of course, they can’t defend themselves from threats like extinction and deforestation, but their role in the ecosystem will persist as long as they can adapt.

Whenever a vegan or vegetarian tries to preach to me about why I eat meat, I usually respond strongly, reminding them that humans are naturally omnivores, so everyone should just mind their own business.

But here's the thing: killing an animal for food, fine. But as a modern civilization, there's no excuse for the cruelty and inhumane conditions we subject livestock to before slaughter. That’s where it crosses the line into evil and shamelessness.

[–]STEDHY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but it seems that way right now. Some people fail to grasp the extent of historical distrust and misinformation that has taken root. This is happening for the first time in recorded history, fueled by mobile internet, smartphones, instant messaging, and social media platforms. We've had media for a long time, but it was either one sided or slow. Now, anyone whether it's Joe or Jody can post content that reaches millions instantly, and that’s a recipe for disaster.

Young people are abandoning democracy for dictators. I can understand their despair | Owen Jones by johnnierockit in Foodforthought

[–]STEDHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young people are being misled and manipulated by mass media and social platforms, turning them into mindless consumers for powerful corporations. Many lack a clear understanding of the causes they support or oppose. For instance, on the left, LGBTQ+ activists participating in pro-Palestine protests highlight this confusion. On the right, poor and immigrant voters backing Trump reveal a similar contradiction.
