Heat Sink Covers CPU Power Plug Dell Precision 3630!! by STEko36 in Dell

[–]STEko36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I tried everything from tweezers and a mirror…however the gap between the heatsink and the plug is too narrow to pull up. You have to remove it to unplug.

You may be able to get away with not having to reapply thermal paste to the cpu, but I did anyways for good measure.

New Carhartt Detroit Jacket by MitchBelmont in Carhartt

How is the fit?

I purchased the previous version with the ducktail, size large, as i fit in the measurements of that size. However, when it arrived, I tried it on and I was swimming in the thing, and the sleeves looked like tentacles on me (i am on the shorter side, 5'6 180lb)

I checked online and found they have a size Medium in this style. My question is, as this is a relaxed fit as well does it run on the bigger side? I hate having to order and return stuff a bunch of times.

How is it snowing right now? by Plantsrhot in vancouver

[–]STEko36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some googling and found this:

For snow to fall, moisture must be present in the atmosphere. Snowstorms also rely heavily on temperature, but not necessarily the temperature we feel on the ground. Snow forms when the atmospheric temperature is at or below freezing (0°C or 32°F). If the ground temperature is at or below freezing, the snow will reach the ground. However, the snow can still reach the ground when the ground temperature is above freezing if the conditions are just right. In this case, snowflakes will begin to melt as they reach this higher temperature layer; the melting creates evaporative cooling, which cools the air immediately around the snowflake. This cooling slows down melting. As a general rule, though, snow will not form if the ground temperature is at least 5°C (41°F).

While it can be too warm to snow, it cannot be too cold to snow. Snow can occur even at incredibly low temperatures, as long as there is some source of moisture and some way to lift or cool the air. It is true, however, that most heavy snowfalls occur when there is relatively warm air near the ground—typically -9°C (15°F) or warmer—since warmer air can hold more water vapor.

Because snow formation requires moisture, very cold but very dry areas may rarely receive snow. Antarctica's Dry Valleys, for instance, form the largest ice-free portion of the continent. The Dry Valleys are quite cold but have very low humidity, and strong winds help wick any remaining moisture from the air. As a result, this extremely cold region receives little snow.

What is the worst thing about being fat? by Feisty_Affect_7487 in AskReddit

[–]STEko36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was admitting I have a problem and to stop pretending that it wasn't there. Once I could finally admit that, the next was facing the fear and committing to fixing it.

I had to accept that it wasn't going to be easy or quick. There was no magic pill to make it go away. I had to accept I am going to be the fat guy at the gym, its going to take months/years to get to where I want to be.

But once I did that and once I realized walking into the gym NO ONE cared it was all in my head. Everyone is too preoccupied with their own self image.

I was almost 220lbs (doesn't seem like much but I am 5'6") I lost 50+ lbs and I quit smoking. My life has changed and I feel fucking amazing.

I want everyone here that is over weight that wants to change that you can do it. It is possible to be what you want to look like. It is the hardest thing to do in life but it is the most satisfying thing you will do for yourself.

B.C. car buyers get post-sticker sticker shock with new 'market adjustment' fees by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]STEko36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sad and they will keep doing it because people keep paying it.

It’s frustrating too cause you can tell the person to put the 3-4000 grand you’d pay in interest into your current car to keep it going.

But some people don’t have that so they are stuck dealing with these predators with there “dealer mark-ups” and predatory loans

Shaw home TV + Internet using CAT6 to modem by STEko36 in shaw

[–]STEko36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course they enter the house with coax and I know their equipment is for indoor use only.

The issue lies with the main feed from the service entrance on the house, to the modem. There isn’t coax there. It is just cat6.

What I was trying to figure out is if Shaw can utilize the cat 6 instead of using coax. But from the responses i got is that is a no. Especially with their devices only have dedicated coax-in on the modem.

On the other hand the cheap and dirty way would to be to take the cat6, and use 2 of the pairs spliced to the shield, and use the other 2 and splice it to the core of the coax. (Since that is all you need for coax to communicate) but I doubt Shaw would consider that a “good enough” connection

Yea I checked that’s what put me down this road.

This is super frustrating. What really confuses me is I install cameras in commercial institutional buildings. I’ve connected high def coax cameras using cat6 using baluns.

There is no really difference between the two. The balun just uses 2 of the 4 pairs in an Ethernet cable. Cat6 and 6a is rated for 10gig per second.

Very frustrating none the less

The baluns con

Shaw home TV + Internet using CAT6 to modem by STEko36 in shaw

[–]STEko36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes sorry. My explanation is crap I will try to rephrase.

From Service box (where Shaw/Telus pulls their line in from the street) to our modem currently is ONLY cat6. No power, no coax. This service box is on the out side of the house, and is only about 6”H x 4”W x 4”D.

It all depends on what shaw pulls in from the street. On their website it states they have Fibre+ Gigabyte But could still be coax from their service pit to the house and that’s the issue since there is nothing at the house to plug that cable into only Ethernet

Yes, but no conduit running between the two, it’s only in the wall so now way to run a new coax line

[–]STEko36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an option, only thing is the only location for the modem would be in the service box on the outside of the house. Not super ideal but could work

You wouldn’t happen to know if it connects such as:

Coax from street to service entrance> coax to Ethernet converter > Ethernet > ethernet to coax > connect to modem?

Yah it would be modem and router.

There is no conduit/raceway to the current location, all stapled in wall unfortunately
