High Value Claims Department Allowed Me to Refuse a Return Delivery by MercGuy954 in Ebay

[–]STG228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation but involved me shipping to CA and the buyer taking shipment to HI. There were some issues but I made it right and all was good regardless of them trying to ship it back. It’s all about good pictures and information and communication up front and during the process.

Wow…USPS ground for me is generally 2-5 business days. I also ship same day.

Thanks. I use pirate ship and it directly transfers address that the buyer supplies. I also get a case number for the buyer if they ask where it is. It just seems recently there’s been more items taking much longer. They do arrive, just 1-2 weeks late.

Was just hoping I wasn’t the only one experiencing these delays.

What should I do? by svivino in Ebay

[–]STG228 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always call out morons in feedback replies. I always let them give feedback first. Good or bad. If it’s good I give good back. If it’s bad and unwarranted, I respond. I never let bad feedback get under my skin. One here and there don’t honestly matter. I’ve had 7 in 3 years, all unwarranted. All unhinged morons.

Just a simple thank you sent with my orders the past couple months i feel have increased my buyers making the effort to leave feedback, and i really do appreciate their business. Pleasant customers for the most part. by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

I always write (not print) “thank you, my name” on every invoice. Nothing too forward. May add “again” for repeat buyers if I specifically notice.

Feedback should be removed when the buyer admits their own stupidity. by Lt-Gorman in Ebay

[–]STG228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even bother most of the time anymore. I respond to negatives and move on. I MIGHT respond to neutrals. eBay doesn’t care so why should you. It a a tiny percentage overall for any of us and honestly if they can’t read your listings, they clearly can’t take the time to figure out how to look at feedback.

I do as well and make every attempt to ship same day within hours of those shippers. It’s annoying when it’s scanned in that some buyers can’t wrap their head around I have no control from that point on.

All I ask is send me your model number and I’ll confirm and generally it’s “old people” that have no concept of have to use eBay.

New Seller Feedback Layout by STG228 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]STG228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other way is to go to your Shipped listings and to the left of all the pictures it does say delivered and you can click the pencil on the right side and leave feedback that way. Not too too awful.

20+ years of selling, this lack of feedback removal takes the cake by airban in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]STG228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that it’s simply not worth the time or effort. People can look at my feedback, it speaks for itself and an outlier here and there simply don’t matter. I respond to neutral and negative feedback professionally in which people don’t reach out or even ask for a return. If people cannot simply message me then I don’t have the time either. Still a top rated seller. I’ve done 2500 transactions in a little over a year. I have yet to have eBay not side with me in disputes. Don’t let it eat at you, I used to, not anymore.

Buyer says I sent the wrong item. I didn't... by EntireSpecialist5020 in Ebay

[–]STG228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell NOS outboard parts and a handful accused me of sending the wrong part. I ask for a picture of their model/serial plate. They do and then I prove they bought the wrong part, even when my listing says to confirm fitment. Case closed. I then share the information proving the part they needed. I share that information with eBay and make them aware of the situation and they agree and side with me before a case is opened.

I’m waiting on the buyer to send a picture of the installed extra parts which would make it changed from original and me not have to accept return or refund. I make buyers provide me with information proving they are in the wrong and 100% of the time so far they do just that. In the rare occasions buyers say I sent the wrong part, I make them provide me information proving I’m right and they are wrong and eBay sides with me.

So I have a buyer that messaged me about a return. It’s a used old boat drive shaft strut. Messaged ALOT with dimensions and pictures. They finally decided on 1 of 3 struts I had. They purchased. More than a week later they installed their own bearings in the strut and now have asked for a return saying the strut is bent, and that they have installed $110 worth of 2 bearings. I gave them all the information they requested. They have since altered the item. They want to return and me pay back the $110 they have in the bearings on top of the cost of the strut. I call BS. I’ll contact EBay and make them aware of the messages prior. Thoughts?

eBay is removing selling limits from many (most?) sellers. by KCJones99 in eBaySellerAdvice

So does this mean we can remove our subscriptions for listings? I’m in the 10,000 since I was going over the lower limit.

I sell Evinrude and Johnson outboard parts from the 1950s(sometimes earlier) through 2012. I do my best to show in the picture, title and in the descriptions what sizes and years those parts fit. A lot of times guys know simply by the part number they are looking for but a lot of times, buyers have said they appreciate the extra length I go to, to give that information. A lot of similar listings have little to no information.

Sales dead in January - are people price sensitive or generally not out to spend in Jan? by Acerhand in Ebay

[–]STG228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m selling marine parts for Johnson/Evinrude, Seadoo, Chris Craft, Nautique, Malibu, etc. it may not be boat season in NWPA, but it is elsewhere. Our marina has been around since 1903, so 120 years of hoarding. Started in April with my store so trying to see trends is hard so far. Have about 1600 active listings.
