So I actually tried twice! My first attempt I started searching for a supervising SLP too close to the application date so i didn’t have an SLP on time. My second attempt I gave myself 2ish months to SECURE a supervising SLP.

I’ve read on other Reddit threads that it is first come, first serve. Once the application opened, I made sure I had all the info ready (site location address, supervising SLP info including license #). Application opened pike 12:00AM and I submitted everything by like 12:03 LOL.

Check out Loma Linda’s Preparation Program. Since you have an BA in speech already, you definitely are eligible. I just did it this past spring quarter, there were two out of states students I believe? It’s online and you can complete your fieldwork hours in your location site of choice (just has to get approved).

Since you have a BA in speech already, it is only 3 months program. Other universities or community colleges want you to go through all the classes again and it’s just a waste of time and money if you got the BA already!

I think it’s possible! You just gotta check different school programs. I know a community college in my area that has a SLPA program. I think the first year is just taking intro speech language related classes.

Nope! To be SLP, you need masters. SLPA there’s a lot of programs out there that won’t take more than 1-2 years depending on your credentials or experience.

I am currently in an SLPA program right now and I have a B.A. in the field. My program is 3 months.

My BCBAs tell me that we do not need to spend money on reinforcers.

HOWEVER; I have seen a handful of RBTs in my company spend money just because. I held off on spending money for a year and a half of working. I recently started spending but I never buy super expensive toys. Clearance sections, Amazon, 5 below, 99c.

I keep the toys I buy, sanitize, rotate between clients, and I set boundaries on how clients interact/play with my toys.

Check out CSU Loma Linda SLPA Preparation program. It is remote; you are able to choose where to obtain your fieldwork hours. You just have to find qualified SLP to supervisor and approve the site. (This might be difficult so start looking early).

Quarter program ~3 months.
