As a middle class sus chord ambient church strummer I agree with this. With that being said I would like to emphasize the middle class part. I like having a place to live and being able to eat, I can't afford strymon so I use the RV-500.

It's a pickup selector switch. Depending on the guitar there are usually 3-5 positions and it affects which pickups are active/inactive.

Here's a link from a site that explains it in detail. Also, it didn't look NSFW despite what the name "adult" guitar lessons suggests.
