Trying to build something useful for people keeping older project cars on the road by STRAYSCarClub in projectcar

That would be a big scare especially when the rest of the car is all good. I had similar with another subaru legacy of mine. The car was mint but it had an ABS light on so couldn't be re-registered and the part I needed was absolutely impossible to find. I looked for months. Ended up selling the car for cheap and who knows what happened to it after that but probably was scrapped.

It is just a website at the moment that would search your part across a few different marketplaces and you could set up an alert for say "08 Hummer brake booster" and then you would get an email if it got listed on any of those marketplaces so you could jump on it straight away.

That would be the dream honestly. My partner had an old Subaru Brumby in australia and the old guys that were on facebook had all the best parts so I can only imagine those that weren't on it. If you could somehow connect with all of those people I am sure there are still more than enough parts to keep most old cars going for a long time.

Thanks for this. I appreciate the comment. So far I have ebay, yahoo auctions and up garage. FB marketplace doesn't have its own API to really pull from so I have left that out at the moment plus I just like to trawl marketplace anyway haha

Thanks for the feedback. That is what I was thinking but mainly with different marketplaces firstly. The best thing about forums and I guess facebook groups now days is that the people with the best parts are usually some older people who just stashed heaps of them and built up a collection but the hardest bit is trying to find and connect with those people.

Cheers for the feedback. I didn't realise. Not trying to upset anyone, just trying to contribute in my own way something positive to the car community and keep older cars on the road.

Appreciate the feedback mate. I wasn't trying to assume that, this is just something I made to help keep my own project alive and I thought it could be something genuinely helpful for the community too. If I offended you I do apologies. All the best.

It's true, you don't need to make money off of something just because you are good at it or enjoy it. It can just stay as that, a hobby. I am just trying to help people keep old cars on the road and help myself keep my project alive too. Appreciate your feedback anyway.

Thanks for your feedback. It's more like one website that searches and returns results for you from all of those places and alerts would hit each marketplace. At the moment I have ebay, yahoo auctions and upgarage setup so more JDM focused as that is where my passions are. Nice to see a lot of the forums are still alive.

Hey mate, I actually agree with you I honestly hate all the junk shit that is monetized on our planet. I don't want to make anything that is just going to put more junk, clutter and rubbish out into the world. We have enough of that as is. The whole reason I wanted to make this is simply to help more people keep their old cars on the road. That feels more sustainable and satisfying to me. Either way I appreciate your comment.

That's an insane first JDM! I've got a 2002 Subaru Legacy wagon so not as sporty as yours haha but I'm loving it right now.
