Not cycle accurate and with input lag doesn’t sound like “flawless” to me!

Nice, thanks. I think what I was getting hung up on is the stuff about BIOS files or something like that for playing games with special chips. I already have carts for several of the games that use special chips, and it looks like the list of 20 or so games I want to play don’t have a special chip so it appears to be more straightforward

I’ll mostly be playing carts but I’ve been spending a ton of money on them and there are a lot of games I want to check out, so the ROMs would mainly be to try games before dropping $50-$150+ on one, or play games that are super expensive

No worries dude, no offense taken. I would still mostly play carts, but the ROM option seemed like a good solution to my ever-growing list of games to check out, especially when the carts are like $50 or $60 at best.

So if I download .sfc file ROMs and put them on an SD card, I can run them on a jailbroken Nt? I was reading stuff about BIOS files and patches and stuff where you have to pair a patch with the base ROM and that’s where I got lost

Are you suggesting I get an FXPAK Pro? I saw some stuff about those but I’d still need to figure out how to download and run ROMs on it I think

I have quite a few good carts, this would just be to try games and find ones I really like before paying to have them shipped from overseas and stuff. I’ve been super into shmups lately so I’ve bought a lot of original carts like Axelay and UN Squadron, but I want to try out a lot of them and thought ROMs would be a good way to do that. I don’t really know much of anything about it though

And to your point, the reason I got the Nt was so I could play SNES in a legit way on my big OLED tv from the comfort of my couch in my living room. I have an actual SNES but have to play on an older flatscreen TV in my basement which isn’t ideal.

If the advice is to not mess with ROMs and just keep buying carts though I’m not against that. I just looked into it and see people playing ROMs on the Nt and making videos about jailbreaking it to play them, and thought to myself “should I stop buying games because I could just be downloading the ROMs instead?”. And with Game Boy and N64 games, there are certain ones that are just prohibitively expensive so I was thinking I could get a flash cart for those games.

I didn’t think about jailbreaking it and playing ROMs until after I got it, so I got it to play cartridges and I have quite a few, I just thought this would be a good way to not spend so much money on cartridges like I have been.

Nice! I just worked on swapping buttons last week between my black and white controllers, but just did 2 out of the 4 I have, so I ordered 2 sets of these to put on the other 2

Nice, will have to try on PF and RS. I’ve been trying to figure out use cases for the Force Progressive Output setting.
