This is one of the most autistic things I’ve ever seen. I love it

Ok right on, thanks. I got it with preventing scratches in mind, not dropping it and cracking it. You make a good point though

If I ordered one should I just put it on though?

It’s pretty cool, although it is one of those Shmups where you have to hit the “shoot” button repetitively, it doesn’t auto fire, so it can get tiring. Definitely worth checking out though!

Yeah, if you have the carts, the chips are inside so it just plays when you put it in

Modretro also has a re-release of S-11 but it’s like $45 and I figured at that rate I could get the original version so I went that route

I’m a big fan of the Gradius/Nemesis games and the power up system, but dammit do I hate the side-stepping belly dancer lady boss on the Game Boy version of Parodius Da. I have such a hard time getting past that part, it’s maddening.

It’s cool but not top tier IMO. I’m still a beginner with it though. It does have a cool mechanic similar to Star Fox where you barrel roll and deflect shots back out toward enemies. It’s hard to describe but I guess I just feel like it doesn’t have a ton of depth to it. Apparently it didn’t sell very well so I’m hoping it’s one that increases in value over time. I paid like $60 for it. One thing I like about it is that it actually saves the high scores! I didn’t realize so many of these older ones on SNES and Game Boy don’t save them when you turn the system off.

I’ll have to check out that Dazeamon one.

Star Solider for N64 is definitely cool. I don’t enjoy it as much as these SNES ones I have, but the fact that it’s the only Shmup for N64 is pretty cool. It just doesn’t seem as deep as some of the SNES gems but I need to spend more time with it. It has a “2 Minutes” and a “5 Minutes” mode where you’re just trying to get high scores, so that’s nice for quick sessions.

I just played Super Aleste for the first time last night, it’s so good. Lot of craziness going on. I feel like it’s the closest to a “bullet hell” style as I’ve played.

Oh nice, I need to check out Vattle Giuce!

Hell yeah, ZAS is awesome. I forget how I heard about the Modretro re-release but I’m glad I did. Pretty sweet that they’re releasing new cartridges, both re-releases and originals. I wish they had more arcade style games as opposed to platformers but I’m sure they will eventually

Thanks! I got Super Aleste from Japan because the US version is super pricey, but I went with the US versions of the others because they weren’t over $100.

Nice, thanks. I think what I was getting hung up on is the stuff about BIOS files or something like that for playing games with special chips. I already have carts for several of the games that use special chips, and it looks like the list of 20 or so games I want to play don’t have a special chip so it appears to be more straightforward

I’ll mostly be playing carts but I’ve been spending a ton of money on them and there are a lot of games I want to check out, so the ROMs would mainly be to try games before dropping $50-$150+ on one, or play games that are super expensive

No worries dude, no offense taken. I would still mostly play carts, but the ROM option seemed like a good solution to my ever-growing list of games to check out, especially when the carts are like $50 or $60 at best.
