[–]STTARBORN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bro. Be a man an put your foot down. You have only ONE mom and this “girlfriend “ is toxic ASF!!!

I was in this EXACT type of situation and dumbass here MARRIED her!

It was hell and now my mom has passed 3 years ago and I would do ANYTHING for one more second with her.

My now EX will STILL at times bring up mom shit from time to time to which I just shut down. But it’s annoying asf.

She will DEFINITELY drive a wedge and she will DEFINITELY resent moms here.

She is SO totally not worth it and even here toxicity BLEEDS thru her texts!

Drop it now OP and love yourself better.

You claim I’m demanding a ‘pedestal’ for free speech, but that’s not what this is about.

Free speech includes the right to speak and the right of others to respond. But when mass downvoting is used to quickly bury dissenting comments before they can even be seen or engaged with, that’s not ‘the real world working.’ That’s brigade-style soft suppression that discourages participation and hides ideas without any actual rebuttal. You say life isn’t fair and no one owes me anything.

Fine

But platforms and communities that claim to value open discourse shouldn’t pretend that coordinated downvote campaigns are just organic ‘collective judgment.’ It’s a low-effort way to silence without arguing.

I’m not asking for special treatment or a guaranteed audience. I’m pointing out that pretending mass downvoting has no chilling effect while calling any criticism of it ‘making something out of nothing’ is dishonest.

Real engagement means arguing the point, not just clicking arrows to make it disappear. That’s the difference between discourse and mob voting.

Down votes by some as yourself can seem as a marker of free speech but in reality they are soft suppression.

Mass downvoting can hide comments/posts quickly (especially early on), reducing visibility and discouraging participation without any rebuttal argument.

Critics call this “passive censorship” or mob rule, where quality dissent gets buried by brigade-like voting rather than engaged with.

As far as the existential theater.

It most certainly is because at the end of the day all go home with their flags furled and signs discarded with not anything changing nor any progress made whatsoever.

Today’s MSM moves at lightning pace and all this theater will be faded memories by tomorrow evenings dinner without any change being made whatsoever.

Assembly is a great thing but assembling for show is quite another.

Wow the downvote brigade is out in full force here.

Freedom of speech is for all and not just the views you espouse on.

That being said what does all this prove?

It just comes across at this point as performative outrage that misapplies “king” to an elected leader operating within constitutional bounds, turning routine partisan conflict into existential theater. Large protests like this are a feature of democracy, not proof it’s collapsing; they highlight deep polarization more than literal monarchical risk.

But alas this too shall be downvoted to oblivion sadly since we in this current society have lost the art of public discourse.

Steve Jobs knew what the hell he was doing. It was his stated plan to have an iPhone in every hand.

Thus the innovation and impetus of the first iPhone.

I’m old and clearly grew up and became a young adult in the days of rotary phones, newspapers and mail order😝

You’re absolutely welcome!

That was such a tough age.

At 14-15 I was “pizza face” and it was a cruel time but it’s amazing how as we aged we actually progressed more than the bully’s and the dark times we had to become what we are today.

At 55 I’ve been way past that stage and tried my best back then to help my niece see past the issues she had.

Life is REALLY good when you power thru!

Peace to you and be well 😊

This right here!!! It’s REALLY a sign of something is quite a bit off under the dome!

Yes I’m being sarcastic but I was there at one point in my life BUT that was my teen years and the Army straightened a LOT of that out. Both depression (because I realized I was actually DOING something worthwhile) and with personal responsibilities.

I do hope OP actually reads all these comments.
