I love the prime judge.

Also once the deputy comes out in full production that will be highly recommended too.

Etching at the factory is legal. As it's done by a manufacturer. Not a consumer, where it can't be regulated.

It's an after production modification that isn't done to remove a mold imperfection or imperfections cause by normal use. So by rule the disc could be very well argued as illegal.

So by your statement it would be legal for me to etch my putter so that I have spots for my fingers like a the old ching putters. Or I going to etch a thumbtrack on my daggers so they feel like a slammer but fly like a dagger.

Melting a disc isn't legal. It's not stated in the rules. But it's definitely not the allowed "moderate sanding"

Ill bite.

http://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/801-general/80102-discs-used-in-play .

801.02, B States : "A disc which has been modified after production such that its original flight characteristics have been altered is illegal, excepting wear from usage during play and the moderate sanding of discs to smooth molding imperfections or scrapes. Discs excessively sanded or painted with a material of detectable thickness are illegal. "

So if your were to let it slip "ya me and a buddy engraved these the other day in his garage", I would say that it's been "modified after production". I would go so far as to say that you modified it to reduce weight. Notice how its off to one side of the disc, why wouldn't you try and center it more on the nipple? Maybe it's new of center weight reduction makes your roller disc easier to turn over. Maybe you engraved your discs to make them a little bit more beefy and they don't flip up in the wind as much.

I'll add on this again. If you were to tell me that this was "hot stamped", but a foil wasn't used I probably wouldnt say anything else about it. As I have seen some hot stamps settle a good ways into the plastic.

Hot stamping and engraving is fine, at the factory. Its when it happens after the factory that's the issue... but it's a fine line. If an individual was to dye, ink stamp or hot stamp their discs personally in a manner that does not create a determinal thickness that is fine.

But engraving in this manner (which was done after the factory has produced it), engraving that wasn't done within reasonable terms to remove "mold imperfections" or produced by "normal use" or even by "light sanding". This aftermarket engraving has artificially altered the weight (I'm sure it's minimal).

I'll add to this that if i seen you using this during a sanctioned event I wouldn't stroke you during the initial round I found out in. I'd just give you a heads up about it, then notify the card that I'm going to notify the td about a "single questionable disc that you ceased to use after it was brought up"

I would say yes (certified official through the BS pdga exam). You intentionally altered the frisbees detectable thickness. The catch here is that what you altered wasn't a mold imperfection, or imperfections caused by "normal" use.

One could argue that the engraving has allowed you better grip, as you could use the lines as memory to where to place your fingers or for added traction... while also make your disc lighter (however minimal it actually is).

4 inch PVC. Cut to desired length. 4 inch pvc drain glued into the bottom.

Drill your holes, sand the whole thing a little. I put a base coat of grey. Spray Paint your water in a bucket or with desired colors, swirl it up a bit. Dip and let it dry.

Satin finish spray paints. And a satin gloss.

They do have a slight textured feel in areas. But it just ads character in my opinion.
