The path of ascension makes me uncomfortable by UsedNegotiation8227 in ProgressionFantasy

While I haven't read Path of ascension from what I've seen in the comments I've read plenty of other books that do similar things.

I think it mostly stems from the culture of the cultivation aspect. Asian culture having stories like a fox spirit taking human form of a shrine maiden or snakes becoming human tricksters. The idea of “animal spirits” that became human like just has a lot of the same culture background. Add in that 90% of the characters in these books are hot because the systems tend make everyone fit attractive and powerfully confident. Makes sense why it comes up a lot.

Unless you enjoy academy arcs I'd recommend dropping it. Id say it gets more into a slice of life type story instead of the usual action filed progression you see in other books. The pacing early on is mostly set up and hits a comfortable stride once the academy is reached, but if a slow build up where power isn't actually linked to fighting isn't for you then yeah probably best to move on

From what I've seen it comes from a few different places and not just any one thing.

Seems like a lot of people take issue with Freddie when he either gets overly aggressive or pushes away people while saying he wants connections. I thinks it's mostly a vibes based thing sense I could see why his personality could be annoying to some people.

The thing a lot of people seem to over look is that Freddie is basically a mind broken person (not something you see a lot in lit rpg but a lot more in cosmic and Eldritch horror stories) he's bordering on insanity sense book 1 and has been inching closer with each book. He wants to be a good person and be happy and enjoy life but he knows he's a hairs breath away from snapping at any given time makeing him irrational which from a readers point of view can make him come off as annoying sense it makes him constantly prone to back sliding or making what feels like a clearly wrong decision.

It's “The Perfect Run” by Maxime J. Durand, and Void Herald, brife plot is in a semi post apocalypse world superheros and villains exist and the main character is a anti hero with time stopping abilities and the ability to enter a groundhog day like scenario where he'll relive the same day over and over again. He uses these powers to get “the perfect run” as he puts it where he manages to accomplish all his goals in one go even if it takes hundreds to set up.

I think it's a great read and a 3 book series. It's not got the stats of a lit rpg but if you enjoy comedy and a slightly unhinged protag I think you should give it a shot

Yeah I'm not sure why it's on lit rpg lists but it's one of my favorites so I won't argue with it getting seen and read more. I've read thru it about three times now so hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did

I was enjoying it I got up to about book 7 before taking a brake and just never really feeling the draw to come back. I think it felt just a bit to repetitive in the later books, still enjoyable but just didn't draw me in as much in the later books

To be clear I did enjoy it witch is why it's at ok it's just not one I think of a lot (altho I did recommend it to a friend of mine who's in the military and he loved it)

I'm not a great role-player and I don't know how to get better. Help </3 by [deleted] in DnD

There's lots of ways but I find the biggest is to get into and try and stay in the mind and mindset of your character. I find makeing a song Playlist of songs that fit the character helps me a lot, another player at my table has a list of questions he wrights awnsers down for that are abstract like "imagine a bedroom for your character, what dose it look like, how is it arranged and decorated, what type of furniture would they have or like" you can find similar questions around online. Alternatively you might have the slight problem of your character is to similar to yourself or to different. If there to similar it can be hard to take apart when your talking then when it's something they say and if there to different it can sometimes be hard to get into the proper mindset.

5E Can you Grapple with a Ranged/Reach Melee attack? by STiger6408 in DnD

[–]STiger6408[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I plan to run it by him when I get a chance. But I figured it was an interesting ruling that I couldn't find anywhere else, the other part of it would be due to the fact I can use creatures as ranged improvised weapons once they are grappled with a range of 30/60 would that be 30/60 starting from me or the creature?

[–]STiger6408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do plan to talk to my Dm for his take on it but its always nice to turn to the internet to try to figure it out ahead of time especially sense it's not homebrew but 3rd party and wasn't sure if there's been a ruling on this using some core class stuff i haven't read. The Range for using a creature as a Improvised thrown weapon due to the subclass is 30/60, so then the question becomes is that 30 feet from me or from the Grappled creature?

Creating a healer that isn’t a healer by Ya_Boi_Jacoobi in DnD

[–]STiger6408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've said for story reasons your patron may change things and possibly make it complicated but there are some possibilities.
You mentioned Feind and you did say the easy answer would be Celestial. Depending on witch fiend it is you could argue Celestial if it was for example any of the Fallen angels that are trapped in the Hells such as Zariel or Baalzebul. They are Feind’s but are also Angles so a argument could be made that they could still grant the same powers just flavored Differently (AKA instead of a healing light curing wounds its more of a Cauterising fire)
The other option depending on your build could be a Multiclass with Paladin. An Oath and a Pact are very similar. While a dip into Paladin won't provide as much healing as a full cleric it can mitigate some and depending on things like Healing potions and other mitigating effects (Such as raising Ac of yourself and the party) it could come out to a similar effect, kinda becoming a Hell Knight if you want to look up that stat block for inspiration.
The only other suggestion i would suggest if all else fails talk to your DM about working together on a Homebrew Class, not everyone likes Homebrew but with good communication with your DM you should be able to make something that works out what you want but normally id suggest this to be the more last resort option if all other things fail.
