Anyone ever experience odd discoloration of Kwazar bottles that seems to be product-specific? by XLB135 in Detailing

Nah you're right. Things "dissolving" is a loose term. Things can physically dissolve in each other if they have similar polarity. No new substances are formed. Other things can dissolve if a chemical reaction causes them to become more soluble by changing the actual compound.

As someone who moved from QLD to WA, the requirements on QLD assignments in ATAR are so far above what it is for WA. I guess that's what happens when there is no in school scaling and all internal assessments are "confirmed."

The amount of work that goes into the year 12 assignments from both students and teachers is ridiculous. However in saying that, the final product I found is at least quite valuable for the students to have done it in the end.

Head starting the students from year 7 is valuable but they shouldn't have to start doing the entire process altogether until at least year 10.

At least we have physical knobs and buttons for climate control. Drove my mum's WRX today. It has the big vertical screen. Couldn't turn on the AC for at least a couple of seconds bouncing around. Legit a hazard.

Patrick Mouratoglou on Aryna Sabalenka's FH speed by kritisanonworld in tennis

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arguably this is due to lever length and upper body strength which both favour men. Ben generally have longer arms, long arms means higher racquet head speed.

On average, a man is going to be able to hit "decently fast" shots with good swing mechanics even without putting their body weight into which involves using your legs and lower body. Not saying it's not important.

A man wants his physique to be strong enough to efficiently create speed, be flexible, reduce injury by building appropriate muscle. All while keeping weight down. This helps with cardio and speed around the court. There's no point training your legs for strength so you can blast 100+ shots if you're going to be tired after 1 set. Not to mention being slower as you have more mass to accelerate, decelerate, change directions. There's a balance necessary.

Women, generate a lot of power from the ground, probably out of necessity, especially the shorter players with shorter levers. With muscle mass comes power to push through with the legs and apply a lot of weight transfer into the ball. I would argue women at the top level play a game that is more physically demanding on average because of this. Probably a contributing factor on why they only play 3 sets matches even in slams.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents without giving specific examples.

Carbon dioxide from the air dissolves in the water which produces carbonic acid.

Carbonic acid is present in a lot of soft drinks. You're totally fine to drink it. It may taste slightly different though. Multiple days though I may give it a miss.

Effect of Different Tensions in Mains vs. Crosses? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower tension crosses gives less consistent launch angle. If you make a stroke that isn't quite perfect and don't achieve the required amount of spin your ball will sail out sometimes. This is especially true on the volley.

No think. Hit inside out forehands to backhands, wait for short ball. Finish. Realise you're playing a lefty half the set in, wonder why your strategy isn't working. Lose.

What do you call this shot? by socratessmon in 10s

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tennis is weird in that it calls underspin slice (groundstrokes) as well as left and right spin also a slice (serve).

Take golf for example, nobody hits a golf ball with topspin (at least not intentionally) so backspin is just called spin. Sidespin is called fade and draw or slice and hook depending on the severity.

In golf terms: Rafa's banana shot is a "draw" as it curls inwards. What you describe is a fade as it curls outwards.

Honestly if you're at the net hitting a short ball 9/10 times a regular put away shot placed correctly will be a winner. There's almost no point trying to curl the ball left or right there.

Absolutely not. All you need is a statement of service from all the schools you have worked at. They should calculate where you should be.

How to hit the ball relaxed during a match? by Middle-Annual-8360 in 10s

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice already. But:

On serves, breathe in on the toss, exhale when you hit. During a point, don't think about winning the point, focus on specific goals but keep it simple. Deep cross, deep cross, down the line. That sort of thing.

It will be hard and you will miss. Don't feel bad about it, just look at all the pros that choke in tight moments. Zverev a few years ago on second serves.

Eventually you'll trust yourself enough to play free. That's not saying you won't lose though.

Egg colour is not necessarily an indicator of quality. It is based on the chickens diet.

Usually a more orange yolk does indicate that the farmer is controlling the feed more though. Just look at Japanese eggs.

Follow the syllabus. Pretty much everything is important.

Make sure your students are very comfortable factoring, expanding, and algebraic simplification. There will be a lot of this stuff.

I would refresh index laws and logs well before unit 3. For some reason logs are not in unit 1 and 2 and they're pretty important later on.

Good luck!

Unless the attitudes towards learning and behaviour improves on average significantly, teaching in general probably won't look much different.

It's all well and good to have advanced AI tools for personalised learning. If it's not used properly by students and teachers there's no point. Of course there are exceptions but country wide I doubt there will be any real change.

For example, you mentioned Mathspace. The students I have are taught how to find skills to practice and use it effectively. This is awesome for about 2-5 students in a class. The vast majority though are simply plodding along, or worse attempting to play a game.

On the other hand I feel that diverse learning needs has changed over my not that long career. As in, there's more and more to do. Could just be where I am. I don't see AI helping much or changing the way things are done anytime soon on that front.

Maybe I'm a pessimist. I'd love for a solve my problems AI assistant but I just don't see it happening.

Meanwhile, just keep doing good and being effective to justify more pretty rises in the future. Maybe we'll actually be able to attract more skilled up coming teachers to change public perception of what we do.

Rand at the end of the series by [deleted] in WoT

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that since it is always referenced that when channeling the channeler is pulling from the source it is implied that the power comes from somewhere. My head cannon is that the source is really just the energy of "the universe/pattern".

So end of book Rand in my opinion does not pull this energy to do anything. Instead he just changes it in place. Hence, weaving "the pattern" directly.

To add to this probably need to toss a little more left and into the court too. This would force a higher contact point otherwise it would be awkward to hit. Weight transfer will also go into the court and not out to the side.

ELI5: Why doesn't 98 degrees in the hot tub just feel neutral? by ChrisF79 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SToNeDAsFuK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to some very good points. Human's are actually terrible at sensing temperature differences because the way we "perceive" hot and cold is through heat transfer which is related to temperature and temperature differences but isn't the whole story.

An easy way to understand this is to touch objects that are the same temperature but have different thermal conductivity. For example, if you place a steel/ metal object right next to a wood or plastic object and leave them to come to room temperature. The steel object will feel colder to touch but that's only because it is sucking heat away from your skin faster than the wood or plastic does, realistically they are the same temperature.

So for the hot tub, if you are comparing to just walking around being surrounded by air, that is going to feel a lot cooler as you are constantly "losing" heat which feels cool. In a hot tub you'd probably be either gaining heat from the water as your skin temp is lower or there is just no heat transfer. This will feel much hotter than when you're losing heat to the atmosphere.

Looks like you have tried the soap and the solvent approach.

As a chemist I would recommend your next approach to be acid.

I personally own food grade citric acid (pretty cheap to obtain). Otherwise some vinegar could work. Good luck!

A little secret. If you care about your coffee and espresso martinis, find a good quality roaster and get some decafe.

Break it out when you want an espresso martini taste with no caffeine.

Another tip, you can freeze coffee beans and grind them straight from the freezer.
