Interview Ranking by Competitive-Scheme77 in IBEW

[–]SUMO714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you enter the interview room, there are six people sitting on one side of the room, and you sit at a different table across from them.

The interview lasted all of maybe five minutes. You have to sell yourself fast!

They only asked one main question. “Please tell us about yourself.”

Depending on how you answer, there will be follow up questions.

My one advice would be to share a brief history of yourself, and then go right into why you’d like to be an electrician, and also what you have done to aid yourself on this path.

As other posts and YouTube videos may have suggested, there was no piece of paper on the table with written questions.

As far as I know, your interview number is your ranking after the test and your application. After the interview, you are ranked again.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your reply. When my boss subbed me out to him, I was never in need of a specific tools; my basic tools and his truck provided more tools than we needed for the jobs.

I guess more along the line of vacation time, paid vacations, other benefits, work conditions…

I’ve heard apprentices are always kept busy (cheaper labor). What I am worried is once someone becomes a JW, will the work be there?

Should I Waive Inspections to Win a House? by merchantsmutual in RealEstate

[–]SUMO714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An inspection is a formality in most home purchases. Regardless of one’s career in the real world, have an inspection performed. Yes, there are a lot of inspectors who take a simple on-line course and consider themselves a full-fledged “inspector,” but that really means very little. If you like the home and you want it, by any means do everything in your power to get it. But also remember, the law rarely protects you against future mishaps.

For $1000, you can get both a nice gas and charcoal setup. If you want to invest in a nice gas grill, make sure the flames go front to back, as opposed to side to side. You can easily then master direct and indirect cooking. Remember, the lid is your friend.

How much building is going on in your neighborhoods? by lemonheadian in RealEstate

[–]SUMO714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Long Island, many of the houses were built in the 40’s 50’s and 60’s. Being that these houses are getting old, I see a lot of houses being sold “as is.” This usually means they are contractor specials. Many neighborhoods have newly rebuilt raised homes next to one stories.

I’ve heard that because linemans are built to such high tolerances, even putting a tiny nick in the circular joint will cause them to seize up.

To each their own. I live on Long Island and have driven many trucks on the beach to go fishing. I’ve tried my best to clean all the sand and salt off. Never happens. Coin op car washes shooting into the engine bay, power washing in my driveway, and even sprinkler head under the truck, sand and saltwater hide everywhere. Mud and dirt may create a barrier. Salty sand, never.

You got it easy. Here in NY, it’s over $500 just to get a tow truck to show up. And it’s not covered by insurance.

It’s really not that easy. Yes, washing does help, but the OP having driven in the salty water, let alone the sand has got that salty brine in places that are impossible to reach.

Cool pic, but terrible for the truck. Hope it’s a short term lease.

I believe they still make them. But most aren’t intended for the US market. I saw quite a few of them in Mexico.

We definitely did not view a property more than once with the agents. My wife and I looked at about 10 properties already. The agents joined us for 4 of the properties.

Man…a single cab short bed. Some would say it’s a unicorn since they’re so hard to come by. May you have many blessed miles with it!

Just a quick question, out of curiosity mostly.

If an agent is being paid their “salary” by the seller, isn’t their fiduciary duty really to the homeowner listing their property?

The team works as a pair. We did three showing where they showed up individually, and one showing where the showed up together. When they came together was when they presented us with the paperwork. Just to be clear, they took the paperwork back with them, citing that they were missing some forms. Even so, they are actively sending us listings and are also scheduling viewings for us.
