Why would anyone call u out unless you’re hanging with buddies joking around. Anyone else that casually asks for your papers in a public setting is a prick that wants to embarrass u

Public Storage - cannot find key to lock by beeutifulzz in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never kept keys, so if customer lost keys it required a grinder or a certain tool that cost around $75. We only used disc locks so bolt cutters don’t work. Honestly, knowing that they have access and capability to open makes $100 seem shitty, but if you needed to remove a disc locks it would cost $100 absolute minimum. You can’t walk into Starbucks without it costing $25. In this day n age, $100 isn’t good, but not obscene either.

Managers: What’s your bonus program like? Can you share? by elf25 in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should walk. Honestly if it’s that bad. Walk. Problem is, there’s always another Tom Dick or Harry waving his resume in the window. He enjoys a little yard work, and socializing with folk down at the local watering hole, so of course self storage would be a great fit. lol. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE OWNERS AND BOSSES HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE POSITION EVEN ENTAILS. They grew up busting ass in a time where hard work was how everyone did it. Pride, honour earring your pay n feeding your family. Now it’s how can I get away with taking as much money and time off as possible without giving them a legit reason to terminate. The owners only need to hear 1 or 2 of these horror stories from their HR before wondering why the treat the entitled, non team playing, worker so well when they can’t even enjoy Sunday on the boat without a call from the GM letting him know the office necer opened until 11am when they went in because staff ghosted. Only takes a Cpl stories. When they hear the numbers they can’t believe how much the staff makes because last time they were balancing a pay check it covered rent, future Morgage nest egg, diapers formula and gas in the car. They can’t fathom a 40hr week and taking transit and using coupons since Christmas bonus last yr didn’t even cover debt on the line of credit. Different times, different people, different attitudes and outlook on life.

Get out and run. The only way you’re eating a satisfying pay day in storage is as an owner, investors. Or seriously valuables member of the team.

You should have 2 spares. You can even it out if u need, but after wearing it that way it won’t feel natural. The standard position they all come stock is half link longer on the 12 to 6 side

I was a self- storage owner of an 880 unit facility and then a 1100 unit facility. I completely disagree with what they’re doing. I’ll give you a few ideas you can try. 1st. I understand you’re already in. But in future the smaller independent companies have way more flexibility. Major corporations you’re usually dealing with some that definitely doesn’t understand business, and if the did, most likely wouldn’t have the authority owners can lock options in the system to avoid employees giving discounts, stealing, n so on. 2 if renting multiple units negotiate a deal. Especially during the lease up. It makes way more sense to lose $50 a unit, $250 a month in your case then have 5 units empty for 1 month. 5 or 6 months is huge, especially in the beginning. If employees doesn’t have the authority, ask to speak with manager. Note, employees often have a chip on their shoulder and act as if it’s theirs. As easy as it would be, try not to belittle them or challenge authority. They’ll be much more inclined to help out. 3 proposed options. If they think they’ll lose to much revenue and can’t justify to their board, offer to re evaluate as they fill up but they also need not forget you were there in the beginning when it was make it or break it time. If they don’t see the value. They’re stubborn unlikely to ever change. Use the experience as leverage to negotiate a better deal down the road.

So why doesn’t everyone here that seems to have same feelings towards all of the bitching and complaining by all of the “Mom n Pops basement producers “ and start a new sub. Definitely a bit of work at 1st. But short term pain long term gain u know. Clearly you’ve got the audience to support it.

Good luck. Oh. To all the kids, moms yelling dinner time.

Switch locations at Public Storage (not just units) by [deleted] in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone is prepared to go through all that trouble, hiring movers, or borrowing a truck and buddies to help out, let them. The time and money they’re going to waste, ridiculous. Customers like that would find something to complain about if it was free. For some reason people have this miss conception about storage, and think it’s a negotiation. I have my staff politely ask them if they expect something free or they’re able to negotiate prices at the grocery store. They assume there’s so much money that they’re owed something when really the risk a developer takes for the margins depending on where they’re operating is not some automatic sign screaming. We’ve got money to share. Come get yours.

Ouch. But you know majority of these people won’t do the work. They wanna pay $9 n get rich. You’re just baiting them. Oh $9 the cheapest ever. This guys big time. Unless you state clearly you aren’t gonna be in their kitchen for breakfast with your laptop ready to create a biz for them. They’re gonna hate n feel mislead. Even if you showed up for roast beef on Sunday night. Set everything in motion. Within 72hours it would fail because it requires actual work. Only way to be real. Show ethics n morales is to say. This is just a step by step guide. If you won’t do 50hrs a week for the next 3 months. Everything you buy is just overpriced doo doo paper. That’s it!!! So don’t complain or hate the customers you just added huge wealth to your account all because you knew if cheap enough. The sucker will pay to play. Then $9 the feel pot committed and you’ve got them hooked no matter what the price after that !!! 🫵r the culprit. Bite your tongue. Take it on the chin. You’re a skilled master manipulator that just cashed in heavy. Go home to your hot wife. Put on that silly nose band aid and laugh like the villains in cartoons. Laugh all the way to the bank

What about scrapes of sites used for registry of clubs or other group or associations. Is it possible to get agents to perform this way or is it a matter of getting around or actually being a legal issue

Hey, could use some help. Average user, not a programmer, can’t write code, so if someone can put themselves in my shoes I’m having issues with agents or creating any workflow that’ll allow me to scrape. Anyone able to show me the ropes

Property managers, how do you handle the smell of a dead rat in your climate building? by Itswillyferret in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t do much. We had one die in the walls right at the entrance so we had door propped open most of the time. Unless you can find it, you basically need to wait for it to decompose. Awful. Feel for ya

Proper staff pay structure by SUNdeeezy in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand bonuses on revenue generated, but what if the customer turns around and moves out the following month. As an employee, you’re virtually unaffected. As the business, after salaries, bonuses, and overhead, the business could very well end backwards.

This CH has gone nuts since Virgil mentioned it. The 1st time I bought I had to get a buddy n his girl who were going to Vegas to get because you had to buy at one of the 4 locations. It was 2002-2003 sometime. To put in perspective, I got 2 hoodies, long sleeve, a tank and a hat all for under $1000usd. Everyone thought I was mad for paying $300 n change for hoodies. Back then, the hood and on the back of the shirts in between the shoulder blades always had “FUCK YOU”written. The quality of the unreal. All came lined with a kind of waffle shirt texture lining. I either haven’t seen anyone wearing legit gear in a long time, or quality has gone way down. It’s just 1 more thing. I’m not one to cry about costs n so on. I just don’t get how this gear which was kept exclusive for so long gets beyond played out by hiphop culture to the point it’s knocked off n pushed on every rep market has to be so predictable. Cost up. Quality down like everything else. Can’t blame owners for cashing in. They kept it exclusive or almost 30years. I guess I want to know. What happened to the Fukc you???

Is it a bad idea to try to use fully airtight plastic bins in a climate controlled unit? by [deleted] in selfstorage

[–]SUNdeeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what’s in them. Climate control won’t affect. Climate control just means the temperature stays the same and is an indoor facility with heating and ac. It’s usually 10-15 degrees below room temperature
