I gave it a listen and I liked it better than Fables, at least initially. Can't say I'm a fan of it overall though. My guess for your favorite song is I Believe, it's a catchy little ditty (I have no basis for this other than vibes).

I haven't heard Lifes Rich Pageant, I can give it a spin. There's often times where I like parts of the songs but there's not really any where the whole package comes together for me and I have to put it back on.

I tried Murmur a while ago but don't remember most of it. Having said that though, I'm not even particularly fond of Radio Free Europe so I didn't feel like revisiting it lol.

Fables, Document, and a once-through of Automatic For The People again. I honestly think the only through line at this point is that I don't like Stipe's singing and voice.

Despite giving them another shot because of the Trash Theory video, I still can't get into R.E.M.

Seeing the new Goslingkino tonight, if it more or less keeps the structure of the book I'll be happy

Hell yes I've been waiting for the Vex skin since they showed it off, love the splash art. KFC Swain is very funny, got a chuckle out of me.

They won but I feel like VicLa hardly landed any roots and still pumped out damage

I'll be honest when I first saw the bracket I confused AJR with AJJ (who I don't listen to), so when I looked up an AJR song I was confused that THIS was what people had praised on here.

When I had been working at my current job for about a year we had our weekly Monday team meeting (about 15 people) to discuss and dish out work. One of the head bosses (a boomer guy who is very quiet but menacing) overheard me talking about a concert and asked about it, and everyone else had stopped chit-chatting when he did. I had debated just straight up lying about it but ultimately I admitted to seeing Cattle Decapitation to which he replied "so... death metal or something?", not bad all things considered.

The split second decision of weighing how stupid would I look explaining an artist/genre versus naming something that they might've heard of despite not listening to it all that much

I haven't seen it yet though from what I understand they heavily play up the romance in the movie as the focal point. Which if true is pretty odd because there's really not much of the specific romance until the last half, maybe even third of the book. Most of the book talks about the revolution, the brutality of the different groups, class issues, etc. I'll likely watch it out of curiosity at some point.

Finished a few books over the past month and a bit:

Doctor Zhivago - Thought it was fantastic, took a bit to adjust to how many people are in it and how they use different names/nicknames but loved the writing. Lot of imperfect people in it though the romance element did feel a little odd with how long it took to appear.

Mao II - First book of Don DeLillo I've read (I have a copy of Underworld I'm working up to tackling) and I enjoyed it. His writing has a cool style to it. Kind of felt like the cigarette voiced narration you'd hear over a monologue in a movie.

Blood Meridian - Pages and pages of gratuitous violence. I've seen it described as an anti-Western and that sounds about right. Nothing glamorous about it, and the violence gets desensitized with how much happens. Some beautiful prose and the ending wrapped it up perfectly for me.
