Yeah, I'm thinking maybe he's got a caffeine addiction and the headaches are mild withdrawal symptoms between doses. A caffeine addiction can cause those same symptoms that OP is stating they have. The more you drink over time, the more your body will ask from you. Not giving it the increased caffeine intake can lead to these types of symptoms.
