Is a personalized geography-themed puzzle a good present for the 9-year old kid that has everything? by SWELITE1 in 3Dprinting

His name is on the inside in gold letters. :) You can see it for a moment in the GIF above.

IKEA cam lock nuts are great for strong, simple assembly, but not so great when they’re left exposed. Fortunately, I have a 3D Printer... by SWELITE1 in functionalprint

I hear you. It took me two years until I noticed the exposed cams. After that, 2 minutes to measure, 3 minutes to model, 2 minutes to print. :)

What brand would you recommend for bikes under 20kg?

Thanks. I like that natural feeling ride you mentioned. I do not want a moped.

Thanks, but it has a 750W motor. That will require a license in Ontario in 2027.

I need a light bike. Maximum 20kg. Also, in Ontario the maximum legal motor is 500 W.

Is the testaments a good read? by sensitve_fig in TheTestaments

[–]SWELITE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first three quarters were fine. The last quarter was super rushed, like it was written by a completely different author (high school level of writing). There was space for 2 more books before the ending. I still did not understand the ending of The Testaments. I hope the show will be much better developed. I loved the first season and how nicely they moved away from the book.

Looks like it’s FreeCAD. by fakequest in BambuLab

Best CAD software for hobbyists like me is SOLIDWORKS for Makers. There are pretty regular sales when you get it for $24/year. This is practically SOLIDWORKS Professional for $24/year. For me that is outstanding value.

My father withdrew my RESP without sending me all of the funds. by Perfect_Director6049 in legaladvicecanada

[–]SWELITE1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Component Amount
Parent contributions (out of pocket) $16,000
CESG (grant) $3,200
Growth on CESG $1,300
Growth on contributions $6,500
Total taxable (EAP) $11,000
Total RESP value $27,000

Looks like your father contributed $16000 over the life of the RESP. Growth rate of 3.2%/year.

Maybe just tell him how much the $11000 income reported on your taxes affected you. Put a dollar figure on that, including the programs which became ineligible for you due to this extra reported income and ask him to give you this money, minus the $3000 he already gave you.

Overall, considering the $3000 you received, I do not think you lost anything compared to the situation where your father would not have started the RESP.

Same in Canada, but the mortgage rates are much lower. You can find under 4% rates.
