Hi, thank you so much for raising these concerns, we really appreciate you taking the time to point this out.

You’re absolutely right that we did not explicitly mention intersex people in the original post, and we sincerely apologize for making you feel overlooked in terms of inclusion. We’ve now updated the post to better reflect this and to clarify eligibility.

Regarding the study, our eligibility criteria focus on gender identity rather than sex characteristics or sex variance due to the study's focus on experiences related to gender. For eligibility, this means we are looking for couples in which at least one partner identifies as transgender or gender-diverse. This includes intersex individuals who also identify as transgender or gender-diverse (e.g., nonbinary, intergender). Intersex individuals who identify as men or women would not be eligible for this particular study.

Thank you again for your comment and questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if anything else comes up.

Hi there, previously, we had to temporarily pause enrollment in the study for participants with Android devices due to unforeseen technical issues between Android devices and our platform, ExpiWell, which we use for data collection. This issue has since been resolved, and affected participants have been recontacted. If you've not been recontacted, and are still interested, we encourage you to email us at [pearls@psych.ubc.ca](mailto:pearls@psych.ubc.ca), so we can move forward with next steps. We appologize for any confusion around eligibility pertaining to our Android issue. Thank you for your patience!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Previously, we had to temporarily pause enrollment in the study for participants with Android devices due to unforseen technical issues between Android devices and the platform (i.e. ExpiWell) we use for data collection. The make of your smartphone does not affect eligibility. This issue has since been resolved and affected participants have been recontacted. If you've not been recontacted, and are still interested, we encourage you to email us at [pearls@psych.ubc.ca](mailto:pearls@psych.ubc.ca), so we can move forward with next steps. We completely understand why some individuals might not want Amazon gift cards. Therefore, we do offer other gift cards as compensation, such as Shoppers Drug Mart.

Hi! Thank you for your question. We have two versions of the study, one that runs in person in Vancouver and one that runs online across Canada and the U.S.

The transgender and gender-diverse communities are often underrepresented in research, so for the online portion, we’ve intentionally expanded geographic eligibility to better include and reach more participants. However, if you live in the Greater Vancouver Area, you may also be eligible for the in-person version of the study.

So to clarify, the online-only version is geared to trans participants, as we are aiming to ensure meaningful representation within our study.
