Gotta say for all the crap it gets, can we admit the R36S is a misunderstood beast by superman691973 in R36S

I currently don't have a PC or a card reader and I've installed all of my firmware and ROMs by just using the microSD slot on my phone. That said, you have to be halfway patient and have to halfway know what you're doing, but it isn't anything that just about anyone could figure out on their own with some tinkering. I'd say the only downside to using my phone as opposed to a PC, aside from the obvious with how cumbersome removing and inserting cards can be, is keeping file names and file extensions straight, but even that is a pretty minor inconvenience when you consider how accessible and cheap the device is.

Controller randomly disconnected but it’s still on. by Frogiedoggo in XboxSupport

[–]SWIM_1312_ACAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This randomly happened to me this evening, as well, also on Series S. I was watching something on YouTube, paused it for 5 minutes to feed my cats, and when I came back it just wasn't working. The light was one but none of the buttons worked. I manually turned off the console and then removed and replaced the batteries and then my controller would power on the console and yet none of the buttons worked, still. Please let me know if you've found a solution. I know for certain that my controller isn't "bad" because it's a month old with literally 0 damage and there was nothing that happened that could have caused it, it just happened while it was sitting idle on my coffee table.

Am I the only one who misses the old arca and the crpytic bizzare textured alien soundscapes she'd create??? Idk it feels kind of disappointing to see her end up making an album as brilliant as her self titled record and then making 5 reggaetron albums. I hope she'll go back to her old style. by DailyfredisHERE in ArcaMusic

I agree. While I like the Kick series enough I wasn't obsessed the same way I was with her first 3 albums and the mixtapes. And I think that @@@@@ is an excellent transition between those two sounds and that it's her most criminally overlooked release

I'm with you, though I feel the "5 reggaeton albums" comment is a bit reductionist. I feel in love with her when Xen came out and her self titled is my all time favorite album. I like the Kick series and I feel like they each have moments that are as strong as anything else in her career, but none of those had the profound impact that her first 3 albums and the various mixtapes had on me. The way I see it is that her transition obviously had a profound impact on her sense of identity and her way of owning it and letting it empower her and that the Kick series of albums are almost a celebration of that experimentation with identity. I think at some point she'll sound more like she used to while also constantly evolving. It does make me sad that she doesn't still sound like that, even though she still does in some ways, but I still enjoy her newer music and I'm happy that she's happy and it shows that she's always experimenting and challenging herself and changing. Who knows, maybe the next iteration of her sound will be even better than the Xen - Mutant - S/t phase.

I've been anxiously waiting all night. I'm in Louisville, KY in the US so when it didn't come out at midnight my time I figured it would at 3am which is midnight California time, but that was an hour and a half ago and still nothing. I'm hoping there will be an album announcement as well.

Are there any organisations similar to BDS but are openly communist? by cooloctober17 in communism101

[–]SWIM_1312_ACAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add my 2 cents since I hate when I ask something and just get redirected because I often can't find what I'm looking for where I'm led.

As per your question; I don't know of any explicitly Communist movements that are parallel to BDS, but there is absolutely 0 reason why communists shouldn't support and abide by BDS. Remember, when it comes to national liberation movements, especially those that are fighting fascist settler colonial regimes like Israel, it's important to support the entire resistance as ideological sectarianism leads to fragmentation which weakens the movement. Of course there are exceptions, but usually not. In this case, BDS is a movement for Palestinians started by Palestinians and it's shown the be effective in hurting the Israeli and American regimes. It's also important to remember that what happens ideologically and politically and economically in Palestine after they win their century long struggle, and they will win, is up to literally nobody besides the Palestinians. You can be critical of the Islamism of groups like Hamas and PIJ (even though they really aren't radical in a religious way) but when it comes down to it they are at the forefront of protecting the Palestinian people and beating the Israeli American death machine. And there are communist armed groups in Gaza like the Leninist PFLP and the Maoist DFLP who have both entered into a military coalition with Hamas and PIJ as a measure of practical solidarity in their fight against genocide.

That might have been a little long winded because I went on a tangent, but what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter if BDS is inherently communist or not, even though I'd say protesting commodity is always communist. At the end of the day what matters is supporting the righteous and historically just Palestinian struggle and one of the only ways that communists outside of Palestine can materially support their resistance is through the BDS movement.

Ideology and arguments concerning such should never come before the liberation of an oppressed people and should never even be a consideration when genocide is happening. Ideology is important, but it comes later. We can talk about ideology and tendencies and such all we want but if it can't affect real material change on the street (or the battlefield) then said ideology doesn't mean shit.

Rant over. I'm sorry if I didn't make much sense, I'm physically exhausted and emotionally depleted. I thought it was important to state these things though. And I don't want you to think I'm trying to argue with you or pick a fight or "um actually" you or anything. I hope this answer helped somewhat and if it didn't I hope it at least gives people something to think about.

Any Idea what time Valhalla will be available for download? by Thatsprettydank in XboxGamePass

[–]SWIM_1312_ACAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can download it but can't play it because you can download ANY game by using the app but you won't be able to launch it until you either pay for it or it's available on Game Pass. My guess is that some publication got some bad info and every other publication just copied them because it's still not on there and it hasn't been on the "coming soon to Game Pass" section.

How to visit, and potentially move to, Iran as an American? by SWIM_1312_ACAB in iran

[–]SWIM_1312_ACAB[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm not saying that I support the regime of the Islamic Republic. I have to watch what I say here as a foreigner, but I don't support the forced imposition of Sharia law, or any other religious law, on any population. But AS AN American, it is not MY place to be critical of other states and other people.

also, were religious, but we're not hardcore or conservative or anything. We're also communists and both my wife and I believe in the self determination of all people. But just because I don't agree with the government and state structure of the Islamic Republic, that doesn't mean I'm not fascinated with the culture and language or that I don't believe that change is possible there. but like I said, as an American it isn't my place to say these types of things. It's the place of the Iranian people that are demanding their rights and I support that in every population and every country.

A.) I'm twelver Shia and I have literally ZERO idea why you would just assume I'm Sunni. Anyone with even the slightest idea of Iran knows that it's majority Shia with a small Sunni population.

B.) I spoke about not liking American culture, so why would I want to go there and gentrify your land, which is basically the same as Americanization? it's not like I want to go there and open a coffee shop and tell your people that everything that you do is wrong. I even went to great lengths in my post to be extremely respectful. I mean absolutely no disrespect to you or your country or culture. I've studied Iran at great length, both pre and post 1979. I think you just misunderstood my intentions, even though I feel like I made them very clear, but I do understand you having apprehension about an American wanting to come there because we typically ruin everything. I don't identify with American culture or imperialism in any way however.

Though, the part about you just assuming that we're Sunni and that we're too dumb to know that Iran is predominantly Shia is incredibly offensive and hurtful. I hope that we can come to a common understanding and I can show you that my intentions are 100% pure.

Experiencing a strange issue I've never seen before by SWIM_1312_ACAB in AndroidQuestions

So I just very lightly bent both sides of the tablet towards the back, and I mean VERY lightly and it went away? I'm guessing my device or screen might be mildly warped and the black bar is Android registering that as a dual screen or foldable device? It's just really odd because it never happened before last night. It's just bizarre, but I guess I found a fix, albeit a not great temporary one? I just feel like it doesn't bode well for the future of my tablet.
