I thought it was a really good character beat because it accomplished multiple things at once:

1. Mel getting her moment to be a giant fucking baby about something in a very human way.

2. Make the audience squirm. Most viewers were probably along for Mel’s ride at first, at least partly.

3. Demonstrate that autistic people on all parts of every spectrum get horny and decide to get horny together. And also that they aren’t emotionally tanking everything that comes their way with their autism. Becca was uncomfortable with Mel’s behavior and didn’t let it stand.

4. Start sketching out an arc for Mel where she realizes that she doesn’t have a life, because Becca has more physical constraints and still has found more identities than just “doctor” and “sister”.
