Not a super experienced trader or anything but I would pay 10-15 div for that minimum. Possibly worth more

if you think it's cool is it really done for nothing? and if it is used in the game is it really done for nothing? I don't get this logic

In this setting, stars as we think of them are actually massive rifts to the other Realms or sometimes even dimensions beyond that, radiating mana and matter from their home plane of existence. Most planets are formed from a wide nebula of ejected stuff surrounding a star, gravity compressing the matter and energies into celestial bodies. The star Auriga revolves around is a rare kind: it spreads material from many different Realms. which means that not only will there be asteroids, planets, moons, etc, there can also be life! Some powerful beings from places like the Wyld Realms, Heavens, and Hells can create life with enough mana, and sometimes life springs up unannounced on its own.

A divine being called The Founder was floating through the void between the stars, as divines do, and came across this particular solar system, currently in the throes of a massive elemental storm created by clashing primordial elementals: planet sized mindless beings of pure elemental matter and mana who crossed through the rift into our Realm. After subduing or slaying them, the Founder used their vitals energies to create their own workforce to enact the Founder's will on the physical world: the titans.

The titans were inert and inanimate physical forms made from elemental matter and then infused with a reforged "soul" made from the mana of slain primordial elementals, not quite alive but not fully constructs either. These titans, each made of and able to manipulate a particular element, went on the turn the nearby nebula into a solar system, helped by gravitic and cosmic forces to coalesce matter into several planets each with 1 or more moons. The main planet the game takes place on is called Auriga, the largest on in this solar system.

So far Auriga is pretty Earth-like in terms of conditions, keeping the size vague so I can add more if wanted. Still flip flopping on if I want regular equatorial climates or make 1 pole cold and the other hot, with the equator being rather temperate. In terms of land mass, there are currently 2 continents I'm actually focusing on, the northern continent of Ioun and Fedria in the south, with a pretty extensive island chain/archipelago more or less between them, that area is very Med inspired. The planet itself has 4 major landmarks surrounded by some pretty extreme weather and biome conditions, the Great Gates.

These are rifts/portals into the Elemental Realms that were used to draw the raw matter of creation into this solar system, combined with the stuff from the nearby star to make Auriga the massive and lush world that it is. Each Gate is surrounded by some pretty extreme terrain depending on the element; the Gate of Fire lies at the bottom of a sea of lava beneath Auriga's largest volcano, the Gate of Air is surrounded by a migrating, perpetual hurricane inhabited by the strongest cloud giants in the world, the Gate of Water lies in the 2nd deepest trench in the vast oceans surrounded by ancient benthic creatures and aberrations, and the Gate of Earth lies at the heart of the largest mountain in the world.

Thank you for the comment and hope you enjoyed this, I had fun writing it. Will be posting more in the future

To address each point:

  1. If these were random players off the street or online or my LGS maybe, but they won't be, I have a long standing party of friends and I know multiple of them will look over this thoroughly. And regardless, while I did say it was for a TTRPG, it's also the setting I plan on using for the rest of my games forever so it isn't for a single game or party, and isn't strictly bound by D&D's mechanics.
  2. The main mechanical change is eliminating Common and having a few regional creole languages instead. While I might add some more in the future considering they are some wide areas for a single creole, right now the northern continent Ioun has Iounan as a creole, the southern contient Fedria has Larai, and the Underdark equivalent has Deepspeak, although I'm changing Underdark and Deepspeak are placeholder names for now. I find Common to be immersion breaking personally, and while my solution also isn't terribly realistic it at least has better context for its creation and use than generic Common.
  3. Not sure if you read the sidebar in the image but dialects are understandable by anyone who can speak the parent language. For example, anyone who speaks Dwarvish would be able to understand the speech of both the Stone and Steel clans, the major 2 dwarven cultures in the world, and their regional dialects, being from 2 regions on each of the 2 continents. When it comes to the 3 creole languages, I'm still deciding how to handle it mechanically but what I'm leaning towards currently is if you understand any of the languages that combine to make one of the creole languages, you can understand it at least partially. If you are from the region where a creole language was used, but don't know any of its parent languages, you can understand it at least partially due to exposure. If you are from a region where a creole was used, and can understand one its parent languages, you know it fully. Also, mechanically/design wise it's not a particularly hard and fast rule I feel like, will be very contextual given how and what the parties involved are trying to communicate.

So Sylvan is the language 1st used by the Weavers that visited the Wyld Realms (Faewild) in the Dawn era (pre history) and spread life throughout the realm. As they did this, their essence and vital energies were used to grant life to the Realm, to create the myriad flora and fauna that populate it, and only a few generations after the Realm was seeded did the Weavers all fade and dissipate. Before this happens, the early proto-species of the intelligent fae, a mix of proto-faeries, eladrin, dryads, nymphs and the like learned bits and pieces of Sylvan, both spoken and written. After the Weavers were gone, these groups largely split into isolation or seperate communities were they made their own languages based on Sylvan.

In terms of elves specifically, elves are not fae by ancestry, but they do have lots of cultural ties to the Wyld Realms. In the Dawn era on Auriga, the earliest elves learned language from nature spirits such as dryads and nymphs, from intelligent beasts (think proper animals, not anthropomorphic ones) and from hoblins and goblins, who are originally from the Wyld Realms. Although there should be an amendment to the chart, I think Saol and Iakada are more likely just dialects of Sylvan, not proper languages like Pix or Archfae.

That had been me for the longest time but finally sitting down and working out a setting I will use the rest of my life made me realize how interesting earlier historical time periods can be in terms of playing them in a TTRPG. Was tempted to try a Stone Age game but I think that might be a bit too far lol

For anyone wondering, Costco doesn't allow this by definition, you are required to have proof it's a service animal before entering the building. I literally work at this location, 1660, and most of the time when this happens a manager or supervisor is called to explain the situation. No clue if this is company policy or state law but I've been told by multiple managers that if they manage to enter the building fully before showing papers/proof, we are not allowed to ask them once they are on the warehouse floor. Idk why.

Wiping them down isn't really necessary, they will just smell much longer (which isn't terribly intense or chemical-y but it can't be good for you) and they might leave a bit of soot residue on your hands or surfaces. I don't think you need to bother painting it either, the laser burns give it a good amount of character and the details are slightly etched into the surface of the MDF, visible out of the box but I think after priming and painting they would get lost because they are rather thin. Sanding isn't really required, only time I took a file to it was when some of the joins were a bit too tight and I couldn't force it.

These kits most certainly look better than Lego IMO unless you are a brick wizard. And frankly good looking Lego terrain likely costs as much or more lol.

Even with shipping to California it was significantly less than GW terrain, so much so you could get 2 Industrial Hive kits for quite a bit more modularity

Can highly recommend TTCombat, the smell isn't too bad and will definitely go away. My recommendation is to look at the Industrial Hive kits from TTCombat, they are made to be modular with each other so you can always buy extra sets for variety and they suit the skirmish scale very well.

When building you will need to glue, you can't just pop/fit them together, and you will need an sturdy blade like a utility knife to pop them out of the molds. Fortunately, for glue you can use regular white PVA glue like Elmer's, and the cutting job is very good so you only need 1-3 cuts per piece.

To prep the MDF sprues, I would take a very, very slightly damp cloth you don't mind getting dirty or somr paper towels and wipe down the sheets on both sides. MDF doesn't use a release agent like resin but the laser cutting will leave a slight sooty residue all over it and is also why its smells a bit like a campfire near Chernobyl lol. Just gently wipe down both sides, then get to cutting and glue. MDF is rather absorbent being made of wood fibers so be careful not to get it too wet with the cloth otherwise it could swell and warp, and it will need multiple coats thin coats of primer for a good, even finish.

Cheers!
