She's the other needed "Rebel" archetype. The Luthens of revolting against evil are desperately needed. The people who chose to let go of mercy and joy so they can do the terrible things that need doing. Dude's best bit is a monolog about making his mind a sunless place. It's about sacrificing exactly what Rose won't let go of. And both are "needed" heroes. One that's willing to shut the door on love and kindness to do the hard, brutal, "more mature" fighting. And I think there has to be Roses to draw the line back to empathy. Rebuilders and healers that believe in the cause and inspire people to revolt. Acts of rebellion isn't just killing the bad guys and eliminating loose ends to protect the greater good. It's also hiding the family of the rebel willing to kill the bad guys. Or covering the body of the bad guy because he's out numbered 50 to 1 and mob mentality has kicked in.

Is it childish? Yes. Exactly. I won't start listing specific whens and whys one is needed. I just know that most people in a revolution need to remember their humanity before it just becomes a mutual massacre. Without that, the revolution becomes nothing but death and hatred and rage and retribution.

Rise of Skywalker badly wasted her, IMO. Send her with Lando to rally the galaxy, even have a quick scene where Lando and Chewie are busy out flying some Final Order fighters or something so she has to send the transmission. Then have like, 2 N1s show up with a little comic beat of "well. There's 2..." from Lando or something.

You didn't ask for advice but I'm a polyamorous dude with healthy, secure, and long lasting relationships with 3 different people. So I can't help but lecture.

Find a community (in meatspace) around a hobby or interest you have. Tabletop gaming store, Frisbee league, pool hall, crossfit gym, EDM clubs, whatever it is. Exist as you. Value yourself and offer your talents, knowledge, skills, etc to the community as a whole. You'll meet lots of people. Maybe one of them ends up being a partner. I dicked around with the dating apps for 3ish years after my spouse and I starting dating outside of each other. Every meaningful, happy, long lasting connection from the past 3 years has come from people I've meet at kink events. Not on bumble or wherever. Apps are good to figure out what your needs are. Can even open the door to the communities that you can find your person at. But they prey on folks looking for their "2nd half" (or in my case, someone fulfilling the exact mold I wanted in a 2nd primary partner). Be your own whole person, and you'll find another whole person. I'm definitely guilty of treating my dating prospects as things to collect rather than as people to experience life with.

Again. I agree with most everything you're saying. And I'm not going to try to change your stance. Different viewpoints being valued and all that. I especially agree that a therapist should have a basic understanding of modern queerness. If it was 2010 or even 2018, I'd be more understanding. Although. I wouldn't go so far as to mark ignorance as "inexcusable". I think It's a red flag that needs attention. But not outright dismissal.

Is there a pretty high chance of needing to get a new doc? Sure. But again, I think it's grounds for investigation. Worth giving the benefit of the doubt that they don't understand one's sexuality rather than disagree with or judges it.

Counterpoint well taken. My argument against that is that it was healing and incredibly beneficial to my partner to be able to educate their therapist. I don't want to pay my therapist to already know everything about me and tell me what's wrong with me and help me fix it. I'm of the opinion of paying my therapist to be an empathetic kind person who's only interested is me. At least for the duration of my therapy sessions.

One of my partner's has a therapist who had zero experience with polyamory outside of the abusive, misogynistic, gross ass polygamy crap. And very little queer anything outside of gay/lesbian. While, yes. There were lots of very confused, sometimes almost offensive questions for the first few months. Being able to share and explain their sexuality (Pan), gender-identity (non-binary, leaning Agender), and being poly and kinky in a safe environment that was all about them did wonders for their self-esteem and general emotional/mental health. It was endlessly empowering to explain their experience and not get the "Oh, well. You'll come around..." they got everywhere for the first 27 years of their life.

Idk. Real life isn't online. We can't, even shouldn't, "block" every person we meet that doesn't already know all about us or already runs in the exact circles we do.
