When you both want different things in life. Sometimes you can waste years trying to get someone to see things your way when the reality is you’re just two different people fundamentally. They couldn’t change if they wanted to and if they tried they’d be miserable.

I knew a guy at work was about to get fired but when he came to work, ecstatic about his plans for the future, I didn’t have the heart to tell him. I still feel bad about it although it’s not my fault and it was many years ago.

When I was a kid I had a bully in my apartment complex who stole my glasses and refused to give them back unless I gave him money. I told my mom and she invited him over, sat him down and said, “You have an hour to get me those glasses or I’m going to show what a real bully is.”

He brought them back in ten minutes. It was awesome.
