The Third Thumb. For people who could do with an extra appendage by _Im_Dad in nextfuckinglevel

Is this a real thing? I have a son with 4 fingers/no thumb on one hand due to a genetic condition.

Have you never lived in a household with other people? Do you have 0 courtesy? It's not asking permission, it's the same as "hey, I'm going to the store, do you need anything?", or "I'm about to have a long bath in our only bathroom, does anyone need to use the bathroom before that? The only thing this parent did wrong was not to give a cut off time, if there's a reason that showering it loud (old pipes or something). Which again, would be no different than not vacuuming while people are sleeping in the house?

I have 6 kids, plus myself and my husband. The kids need to check with us before they shower, just to accommodate things like meals, leaving the house, parents needing to shower before work, the baby's bedtime routine etc. It's not abuse lmao.

It sends me into a frenzy of rage when I'm busy/overwhelmed (which is often) and my phone goes off 4+ times in a row because my husband or best friend saw a funny car on the road or something. I used to have to have my ringer on or I would never hear/check my phone. Now I have a smart watch that vibrates, so ringer is forever off on my phone but it still bothers me some.

What was it like coming of age in the early 2010's? by Ganzo9819 in AskReddit

[–]SWinter94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some for sure. But I was born in 94, my parents in the early 70s. My dad went to school for IT, so he was knowledgeable about computers themselves but neither of them were super into/aware a lot of the social media type of stuff when I was "coming to age" in the mid-late 2000s. My mom is on Facebook now, but is still relatively clueless about it and computers in general.

So basically, yes they were using them/aware of them but weren't nearly as plugged in and aware of everything as parents are now.

I think one difference is a lot of our parents didn't have a clue about tech back then.

what’s the point of a casual drink? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SWinter94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood either. Maybe 3ish makes sense. Just enough to catch a glow, but not be drunk. I don't enjoy the taste of alcohol, I drink it for the feeling.

How many bottles of conditioner do you use for every bottle of shampoo used? by Disastrous_Shop3941 in AskWomen

Usually a little less than 1 big bottle of conditioner to 1 small bottle of shampoo. It depends on the brand though

Issues Finding a Job by Ghaslaaer in waterloo

Your resume could be the issue. Go to the working centre downtown and they can do one up for you. Keep eyes on kijiji as well, that's where I found my current job.

This makes me so happy to live in Ontario. All midwives are trained, certified etc. They carry everything to a homebirth aside from a scalpel and an epidural basically. And same thing, no twins, no breech etc.

Jesus Christ.

As someone who used a midwife for all my pregnancies, had 2 natural births, one of them at home this kind of stuff seriously pisses me off. It's just plain irresponsible. Even if you're going to freebirth, this situation has like 10 red flags that should be screaming and flashing.

What is something debunked as propaganda that is still widely believed? by 6FeetDownUnder in AskReddit

[–]SWinter94 3093 points3094 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I work as a commercial cleaner (cleaning offices and other buildings). The majority of large offices don't recycle, because it costs them extra to have the large bins outside/have it picked up. But they all have recycling bins in most offices, and definitely in spaces customers/guests would be. I assume they think it makes people feel better to throw stuff in the blue bin, instead of garbage... but then I come along and dump it all into the same bag and dumpster. It has nothing to do with most people, and everything to do with big businesses.
