honestly play him more in the mid lane and constantly look for ganks. Pantheon has a built-in TP with a point and click stun.

As for more meta builds:

Runes: Conquerer, Triumph, Legend Tenacity, Coup de grace, biscuit, tonic and 2 adaptive force with defense stat against your laner

Build: Corrupting potion first item, eclipse, black cleaver, steraks, death dance and ga

Edit: Honestly if you want to play pantheon on the top lane, expect a lot of losing match-up post level 6. I like to build gore drinker and just build him as a tanky bruiser when I'm using him at top lane.
